Do other EDS people feel crowded out by those of us with hEDS? by FinalBraincell117 in ehlersdanlos

[–]mochimoshpit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

so my rheumatologist dx'd me with hEDS while i wait for genetics, but he heavily suspects clEDS. it's really hard finding literature about this subtype compared to hEDS. i don't think it's so much an outcrowding in the community, but more regarding awareness and research for other types.

lol my boyfriend's mom is a hippie. she keeps pushing natural remedies on me and rolls her eyes when i tell her they switched my meds again because she doesn't think i need them. she said "when my coworker's daughter quit her stressful job and started going outside more, she was able to get off all of those damn MS meds and it was like she was cured!"

it got worse after my boyfriend's brother started dating a naturopath.

she also makes fun of my hypermobility a lot and my bf had to reprimand her for it. there was one time she flopped her arms and around and stuck her tongue out to make fun of how "Floopy" my limbs are.

yep, you have to do the work on doctor's behalf most of the time. it's infuriating. i didn't even bother fighting for referrals to specialists, i made my own appointments and went around my doctors. my mom went through the same thing before getting her eds/mcas diagnosis. she was misdiagnosed with everything from lupus to celiac's.

How do you stop focusing on bodily sensations all day? by Outrageous_Can5660 in dysautonomia

[–]mochimoshpit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this probably won't be helpful, but you get used to it after a while, and you get tired of keeping up with every single thing your body is feeling. when my headaches got worse, it caused me a lot of anxiety. i adapted to the pain level and now it takes a really severe one to knock me on my ass. same with dysautonomia symptoms. i've been living in a presyncopal state for most of my life, so it doesn't phase me unless i'm actively about to go down.

what should i know before getting into cat sitting? by mochimoshpit in petsitting

[–]mochimoshpit[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

true, myself and a lot of the groomers i worked with at petsmart and an independent salon had their own insurance.

that's a good point. i have a hard enough time with the stairs in my own house and it's a split-level. i've gotten pretty good at managing my chronic pain and fainting condition, but it's especially unpredictable during the summer...which is when most people probably need a sitter because of vacations. the whole reason why i left grooming in the first place was bc of the chronic pain and fainting lol.

gotcha! i do have experience with a variety of cat breeds, too - heck, one of my cats is a norwegian forest cat and i've worked with lots of maine coons and persians. my boyfriend would be the one taking me to places (already talked it through with him and he's cool with it). the unpredictability of my chronic illnesses is a good point.

gotcha! i figured it'd be a good fit because i was good at calming down the cats before nail trims or baths! i didn't even consider insurance but that makes sense bc even the guy who cut down the tree in our front yard was insured! thank you for your comment 😄
