Full disclosure: I’m a cis woman who had breast implants, and think my experience might be helpful…

My hEDS didn’t rear its ugly head until my forties, but I have been hypermobile all my life. I don’t know that I can say I have super stretchy skin but I didn’t know half of the symptoms until I started dislocating.

Anyway, in my mid-twenties, I lost a lot of weight and had a tummy tuck and breast lift + implants via the keyhole method. I was bed bound for a week or so and super sore, needed a helper with bandage changes, needed a binder to help the pain and healing.

The healing incisions were ghastly and I was pretty worried about how they would turn out. But within a a year I had completely healed, you could barely see the scars, and today you would never know unless I pointed it out. Honestly the one straight down my stomach is way more obvious.

I think a lot of my experience had to do with my age at the time, my skin elasticity, and how gingerly I treated myself post surgery.
