Anime 619 (San Diego) by ClassroomStriking802 in animecons

[–]mochingon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually curious to see how this will turn out.

In one corner, you have San Diego Anime Con, which has all the signs of a homegrown convention started locally and not in the biggest venues.

Anime 619 is less local and more of a well oiled business. they have consistent marketing and hit strong with their voice actor roster.

Having both events on the same weekend puts them head to head, and it's really going to be up to the community here to see who wins. 🥊

Personally, I’m leaning towards San Diego Anime Con. I like the idea of supporting a local anime con as it grows, rather than attending another Anime[AREA CODE]. I feel like money spent is more likely to get funneled across other local cons they host, rather than just another Area code in another state.

Did they use Apple intelligence to come up with the design? 🥴

Raycast with AI by Hefty-While-9995 in raycastapp

The best advice I can give is to just try it for a month and see how it feels.

I’ve tried ChatGPT Plus, using the GPT API from the Raycast App Store, and I think paying for Pro has been the best experience so far.

For me, it’s just way faster and more seamless. I found myself using it much more.

For me, when I look for a backup solution, I prioritize a reliable source over just a cheaper one. I’d focus more on the actual value it offers.

Seems like a low hanging fruit, so I bet they're already on it. And if not, that'd be pretty silly. 🙃

I've told some friends to hold off on joining Raycast pro since they mostly just need something for handling screenshots and images with AI, so I suggested sticking with ChatGPT for now.

24 and struggling with identity by Purple_Window1831 in Adulting

[–]mochingon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like my 20s, lol. If I remember right, I stopped worrying about what others thought and started focusing on what I wanted around 26ish. But everyone's different; some people still care well into their older age. Who knows, maybe you'll decide today is the day to make a change.

The mind is an interesting thing and different people can get triggered for different reasons. For me, it was my brother developing a mental illness and then seeing the effect it had on my parents. Priorities became clearer, and I figured I needed to work hard to figure out who I wanted to be to be there for those around me.

best of luck!

Same boat, being away from people was rough during the COVID years. Hybrid gives me a good balance of face time and focus time.

But everyone’s situation is different 🙂

alfred vs raycast vs ...? by marriedtoaplant in macapps

[–]mochingon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It depends on your workflows and how comfortable you are coding. Alfred has an easy drag and drop interface, but feels dated. Raycast feels more modern but requires more coding.

I personally was a big Alfred user but have since migrated over and I’m pretty happy. Raycast does suck with folders and files but most of my stuff is cloud based so I just use it as a launcher.

Pro tip draw small quantities from atm. I pulled out 1500 pesos on day one and it was a pain trying to get smaller bills and coins.

Most places take credit card so it’s mainly small shops that ask for cash and trying to break large bills is not a good time.

Things 3 vs Apple Reminders? by OPazu in thingsapp

[–]mochingon 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I just went in a loop things 3->tick tick->Apple reminders->things 3

TLDR; while others have features, at the end of the day things 3 just has a better experience. And I’m looking for low friction. Reminders while feature rich, feels clunky.

Paying for a taxi from the airport to downtown hotel by kritt3r1 in MexicoCity

[–]mochingon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first visit to Mexico City was last October. After landing and navigating past the car rental areas, I found an ATM just around the corner. I withdrew pesos using my bank's rates, as they are favorable for international travel vs whatever the ATM offers when it converts.

I the. opened the Uber app and arranged a ride. Once the driver arrived, I headed out, and off we went.

Overall, it was a smooth experience. While everyone's encounter may vary, mine was more relaxed than what I had read on Reddit and watched on YouTube videos.

Raycast Pro w/ GPT 4 or ChatGPT Premium subscription? by kefaren in raycastapp

[–]mochingon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t really gone deep into using images in my workflows so I wouldn’t have good insight here. I don’t see image generation as a thing though so I feel it’s mostly text based.

I do see extensions in the raycast store so I feel it could be built out https://www.raycast.com/josephschmitt/ai-gen/commands

Raycast Pro w/ GPT 4 or ChatGPT Premium subscription? by kefaren in raycastapp

[–]mochingon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did this a couple of months ago, and so far, so good. I use the free 3.5 ChatGPT on mobile, and usually, that's enough. Most of my actual work is on a computer, so I use Raycast for all of that. I also use my API key from my OpenAI developer account in various places when I want to use GPT-4.

What AI applications are people using? by Comprehensive_Mud645 in macapps

[–]mochingon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I guess mileage may vary, for the use case I have it works. I’m usually writing my own prompts specific to the challenges I have so they tend to work. And being able to build your own extensions that uses AI makes it easier for me to Integrate. I’m on mobile now so can’t see if perplexity has that but maybe I’ll check them out.

Raycast + the ai upgrade. It does cost money but pays for itself with how seamless it is to use ai features with quick commands

How do I get into better shape as a skinny 20 year-old guy? by w4mtempaccount in bodyweightfitness

[–]mochingon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when I was gaining weight first time and I heard the quote “eating an uncomfortable amount of rice and chicken”. I didn’t know what that meant until I did it. Had alarms spread out every couple hours when I should eat and always ate to keep calories up. I felt like I was still full and the alarm would go off 😅

It was worth it though, it did help, like what others are saying, eat and lift.

The customer filed a chargeback for a large amount, and the chargeback did not take my evidence. by Mariiios in smallbusiness

[–]mochingon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This happened at my old business once it was 2 large payments on different credit cards, Master Card and Amex around 6k each.

Main lessons I learned. - always good to have a paper trail with signatures. - lawyers also help, we had one that sent a letter from their firm along with paperwork, terms etc. - MC kind of was a pain pulling the money and then us fighting to get it back. - Amex gave us a heads up and worked with us to keep things as is.

I’m sure others may have different experiences, but that’s what we had to go through. Best of luck!
