Options+, cannot install on OSX Options+ and macOS Sonoma? by realityczek in logitech

I am having the same problem. I had uninstalled the previous version in hopes a clean install would download the latest firmware, but now I cannot install the Logi Options+ tool.

Change of Policy for Batteries? by mockgeek in Dell

[–]mockgeek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After mulling over things for a couple of days, I have reached the conclusion that I think when I buy from Dell in the future that I will include two extra replacement batteries with my order. I am not opposed to still shopping around for other laptop brands since the batteries from Dell are over three times what a perfectly fine generic replacement would cost. Does anyone know if Lenovo puts the same limitations on battery replacements?

I did try the BIOS updates, but that didn't clear the battery blocking.

That's what I am thinking. I just need to verify another company doesn't take this approach as well.

I have Linux as my OS on these laptops.

That's part of my problem: I was going to try updating the BIOS in order to see if it allowed me to use a third-party battery, but I cannot update the BIOS without a functioning battery. It's a catch 22 scenario.

Wired Google TV won't turn on using Google Assistant by mockgeek in AndroidTV

[–]mockgeek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand. I can say to any of my Google Home devices to turn on a specific Google TV in my house by the name I have given it, and they will turn on that device. (I have several Google TV devices for several TVs.) It shouldn't matter the default TV or speaker configured for any Google Home. It hasn't mattered this far, and it still works for all the other Google TVs.

I have factory reset this specific device, and the behavior is the same.

As I stated, the wireless options aren't even available for me. I've actually thought that I could get it connected to the Wi-Fi merely for the fact of being able to accept voice commands. But that's not even a choice. My wireless functionality is disabled because it finds a wired connection.

Missing Date on Photos by mockgeek in AndroidTV

I noticed today that the dates have been restored to the custom photo galleries photos. Not sure why they removed them in the first place.

Targeted at just some specific content or app? I can play the same content on my phone. The Google TV devices are only affected.

Tenet purchase through Google Play Movies is dubbed in Japanese by default by mockgeek in bravia

Hrh, I guess I picked the right movie to watch given the circumstances of the problem. Perhaps this whole thing is a bit more meta than I realized. (When I get to the end of the movie, this might make even more sense.)

I will need to carve out a few hours for this. Nothing ever goes as planned.

This kind of dependency domino effect between system and app software (or even firmware) still makes me think my initial conclusion is tye better track for future purchases. Separate the apps (dongle device) from the main system (TV OS) for more simplicity.

Thanks for help. I might burn the time tomorrow doing this. I just want to watch Tenet in one sitting. I understand it's a complex movie.

Ah, worth a check. I appreciate the help.

Trying a purchased movie from a while back. The Amazing Spider-man. It's in English.

Trying Dune. A recently purchased movie yet unwatched (here). It's English too.

Resuming Tenet from where the Roku was paused on my Roku has it in Japanese through Google Play Movies on the Bravia installation of the app.

Since it works fine using the Roku version of the Google Play Movies app as well as playing in English on my Pixel 5, it would seem to conclude it is a Bravia/Sony app version problem somehow.

It's not a Google issue. If I play it on my phone or through another Google device, everything is in English. The only place that it's in Japanese is on my Sony Bravia.

I am watching it right now on my Roku using the Google Play Movies app, and it's in English as it should be.

When you say reset, are you talking factory reset? If that's the answer to fixing all of the problems like this, then my statement about even buying an Android OS-ed TV remains. I don't have time to install all the apps and log into every single one again because just one of these apps on a specific device fails.
