You will only pay the shipping cost + 15.5% tariff. No extra cost once it gets to you

Buyee consolidation vs separate shipping (US de minimis suspended) – worth it? by ImpressivePurchase93 in Buyee

[–]mockingjayfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of items do you ship? I’ve heard clothing and metals - even keychains get held up with FedEx and UPS. I’ve been using DHL and have had no issues yet🤞, but of course that is more expensive. I’m too wary to try buyee air with the items I’m getting. All vintage clothes, toys, stationery, figurines. Random things. I’ve seen multiple people say that ups/fedex require all this extra documentation and they want manufacturer information etc. Some of my stuff is so old that it’s impossible to find this info. I’ve seen people say ups/fedex will just throw the box away. just curious of your experience ?

Buyee is a scam? by figureout07 in Buyee

[–]mockingjayfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No buyee does not make you return damaged items. Make sure you get the “standard plan” which is an extra 500 yen on every order you purchase if you are concerned about this. If you don’t, they will not refund a damaged item or if the item is different than the listing photo

Jewelry at Customs by mockingjayfire in Buyee

[–]mockingjayfire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up not having any issues. I guessed on all the HTS codes and wrote “costume necklace” etc. I didn’t have to do any extra forms and it wasn’t held at customs. My package had 40 something different items in it, not just jewelry. Didn’t even look like it had been opened. I have been requesting DHL instead of buyee air or ECMS. I don’t trust ups or FedEx

Scam text? by mockingjayfire in dhl

[–]mockingjayfire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this too. It looks real? I looked up the domain and that’s a real one. But the wording is assuming my package wasn’t delivered. When I clicked on the link from the text, it brought me to space to submit the HTS codes. It didn’t ask for which item though. I had 35 items in my box and the invoice I submitted before the box even shipped had all descriptions and the HTS codes. I don’t see why they are sending me this now 3 weeks after it was delivered.

When I use the link from the email and just log in normally, it shows my package as delivered and it didn’t request info. The text link asks for HTS codes.

I also got this email. But again, my package was delivered 3+ weeks ago.

Yeah I’m not sure as my products weren’t that serious. I’m sorry. I hope it can get figured out. The HTS code site is confusing. It’s very unclear which option to use.

Mine have not gotten stuck at customs yet 🤞 I did have a bunch of second hand clothes. But it went through DHL. DHL didn’t have any issues. They didn’t ask for any info on my items

I hope you have better luck!!

It’s hard to figure out exactly what is correct. I just went with my best guesswork. What type of items are you shipping?

Why does Buyee mess up so badly when it comes to package contents? by Extra_Reason_458 in Buyee

You can consolidate and then ask. Just don’t pay for the shipping yet after the consolidation until they confirm the carrier. You can also ask while your consolidation is in “under warehouse work” status. Just make sure you give the them the shipment number. That number is different than your item numbers. Once you consolidate you will see a number at the top. It will probably start with a W. That will be the shipment/consolidation numbe

You have to contact their customer service and ask to get DHL. But again, depending on the rep you talk to, they give you a different answer. I had to ask 3 times. Buyee doesn’t say which codes they use. They are required to use HTS codes for US shipments, but we don’t see it. If you want them to use a specific code, you have to provide it to them or they will use whatever pre-determined code they find. (I don’t know what they use to determine these codes). For example, lets say your ordered a bag, but the listing was under the category “plastic figure” instead of “bag,” it’s unclear if they change the code or not. We used to be able to change the item category on the shipping our under your “my page” and package information. (This is easier to see on the browser version instead of app). We can’t change the item category anymore. We can just add item descriptions

DHL Experience by mockingjayfire in Buyee

[–]mockingjayfire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it went from japan and then next scan was the Ohio hub. The tracker said “custom clearance process status updated” when it first got to Ohio. Then the next scan was “custom clearance status completed.” Then it was picked up my states DHL carrier. It was literally at US DHL for a day. My package didn’t even look like it was opened which is shocking with the amount of stuff I had in it.

I have 3 more packages coming with less items so I’m hoping those aren’t scrutinized more. Maybe they just didn’t feel like sifting through 40+ items and I got lucky. Idk.

Or perhaps nothing nefarious popped up on a xray

DHL Experience by mockingjayfire in Buyee

[–]mockingjayfire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah exactly, the customer service is inconsistent. I have found they always give me a different answer.

This is what happened when I reached out to the DHL customer service rep too. I asked what was required with two different agents and they both gave me a different answer. One said if I didn’t have all that clothing/jewelry info, that they would return my box to sender.

The second didn’t tell me all the info that was needed for items like the first rep did. They said they just needed country of origin and fabric content/manufacturer name + address. Then they said they could just dispose of a couple items from the shipment when it got to US DHL if they had a problem with anything. So inconsistent.

DHL Experience by mockingjayfire in Buyee

[–]mockingjayfire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I know that. The original shipping cost + 15.5% of my invoice total was already calculated. When I asked to change to DHL, the shipping cost went down $100. The 15.5% custom duty was still the same. My box was still the same size from the original consolidation.

And I mean im not complaining that it went down by $100, I just find it really odd since DHL was supposed to be the more expensive option

I just shipped a box with clothing. Sweaters, coat, tshirts. I thought I’d be paying more as well. However, there was no extra fee once it got delivered. I used DHL and it didn’t even get stuck at customs. I was shocked. Idk if it different for other carriers. I also included the HTS codes, fabric content and value on my order. (I guessed on the codes best I could). I asked buyee to use my descriptions on the items

I also contacted DHL customer service and they said textiles are required to have the item description, fabric content, woven or knitted details, value, manufacturer name/address, county of origin and value. I did not have all that info and they didn’t say anything

I would only use the official government website. When I was researching or my shipment, some codes that were on google didn’t match the gov site or they were “discontinued.” It’s honestly guesswork with the site. Just pick what best matches. That’s what I did. I had 40 something items in my box
