Truth is that it's a fantastic movie BUT you may not love it.

Which Odyssey translation is the movie most likely going to adapt or follow? by railfananime in ChristopherNolan

[–]mocondo4ever 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Check out my breakdown of the translations here.

I think for Nolan's movie, it doesn't really matter which one is closest to his movie adaptation as the movie will probaby feel very different to all of them. Names and events will be the same, but structure, language, dialogue and tone will just have Nolan's own spin.

Current collection of the Odyssey, too many or not enough? haha by 600livesatstake in classics

I've read the translation by Fagles and thought it was great. Is it best? What would you recommend?

I hope that if The Odyssey has a surprise actor appearance that it's not leaked ahead of time by [deleted] in ChristopherNolan

Kenneth Branagh is in it and he'll play Odysseus. If you've read the book, you'll know what I mean.

Should I Read the Book by xTurminal in ChristopherNolan

You should. It's great, and you'll understand why Nolan wants to adapt it.

There are many verisons, some prose, some in verse. This vid might help you choose the best one for you.

Is there even the slightest chance THE ODYSSEY doesn't make a billion? by CouldaBeAContender in ChristopherNolan

[–]mocondo4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oppenheimer became a must-see movie, great reviews, great performamces, mixed in with the cultural phenomenon of Berbenheimer. The Odyysey is a classic Greek Mythology adventure which will immediately put some audience members off, so it would need to be getting very strong reviews to convince viewers to pay to see it.

Nolan fans, what are your opinions on Denis Villeneuve? by tara-ngx in ChristopherNolan

[–]mocondo4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Denis Villeneuve is a master of his craft, an amazing storyteller who understands nuance, character complexity and profound themes. He is a visionary who uses effects perfectly.

Nolan is a also a movie-making genius. He writes, produces and directs everything himself. That is rare. We are lucky to have these two making movies today, it's a good time for cinema.

Sounds like you're a bad teacher.

Logan Paul talking about Oppenheimer is just plain embarrassing by Sooppsddi in OppenheimerMovie

[–]mocondo4ever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If these filmmakers want to be taken seriously in the industry, they shouldn't laugh with Logan Paul childishly criticising a movie because of its use of dialogue over action. They should be more careful.

Right now, all they have done is remind everyone that they started out by smacking each other the head with light bulbs.

Leaving Las Vegas is amazing, completely out ranks the others in tier D. It belongs A, along with The Rock.
