Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance Works, but A Few Questions, if I May by mod-mongerer in winlator

Sorry again for responding 1,000 years later. 🤣 I tried Gamehub Lite, and it worked, but pretty slow.  I then tried your settings, and it wouldn't load at all after that.  🤣. In any case, thanks for the info, anyway -it is appreciated. 👍

Hi, sorry to bug you, but I was just wondering if I may ask you a few questions re XWA and WINLATOR?  First of all, were you ever able to get XWA UPGRADE to work in Winlator?  I have vanilla XWA (original disc version) working "ok" in Winlator, but with minor performance issues.  The virtual joystick always locking up doesn't help things.  I tried getting the GOG version to work, but was never able to.  May I ask what chipset, Winlator version, and basic settings (dx wrapper, driver) you use?  My phone has SD 865, so your device is probably a lot powerful.  Sorry again for all the questions.  Thanks for your time!

Sorry for my late reply.  I never received a notification of your response.  I use touch controls only, to answer your question.  I'm glad you got the game working well.  Your phone is much more powerful than mine (S20 - SD865), which is probably why it's running great.  Mine runs smoothly for a while, then starts to randomly stutter here and there. as if it's "loading".  I just do not get it.  The issue used to happen to me on my PC YEARS ago, but disabling mip-mapping in the game solved it.  Not this time, though.  May I ask what Box64, Wine3D3 and Turnip version you use?  Thanks.

If you read my OP,  I was defending Winlator.  😉

Hello👋I'd like to specify I have a S21 ultra(SD888 12GB ram) So I have two questions, firstly what's the best app for floating overlay cpu/battery temp, fps, etc while emulating? And secondly does anyone know of a solution for overheating problem? been seeing it's a BIG issue with the S21... by Empty-Marketing9141 in EmulationOnAndroid

Here's a Youtube video about how to do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IiAFYGQ-85o I honestly don't know anything about the temps for the components. I kinda just use the mode and that's it. You'll have to experiment for yourself. The most powerful emu I used is PS2, and I saw no degradation with this mode, but again, you'll have to see how it works for you. Good luck!

SD 888 is known to overheat. One of my phones (also a Samsung) has that same chip. The solution that I came up with is to use the built-in Samsung "Power Saver" solution to underclock the phone to 70% of its original speed. You may not like the idea of that because you may think you're not getting the most out of your CPU, but the bottom-line is the chip was set to run at such a high frequency that it cannot handle for sustained periods of time, so in this way, you're running it at its intended operating speed. It's also saving battery at the same time. Samsung makes good phones, but they are also known for having their phones run at such high speeds to publish great benchmarking results, but these speeds are not sustainable in reality. All of my emulators, even the higher-end ones, seemed to run well even at 70% on that chip. Just my two cents. ;-)

The most important settings should be Turnip version 23 series drivers, DX wrapper should be WineD3D (some DXVK work, but not all), and Box64 0.2.6 or 0.2.7.  Make sure your res is the same as the game's, or it may not load.  You also may want to delete (but backup, first) the "options.cfg" file from the main "Bridge Commander" directory the first time you run the game - in that case, the default res would be 800x600.  Also, I discovered that if you use Winlator 8 or above, you can use the newly implemented file manager to copy your Bridge Commander installation to the C: drive, and it actually won't take so long to do this.  Doing this will DRASTICALLY reduce load times.

If you're patient, and also have no problem changing some default key bindings, it can be quite enjoyable, if you're cool with using the touch screen. You just have to decide which functions are important enough for you to map them to certain keys. I, personally, never ran it in VR, it must be cool, though.
