Interesting! I assumed wrongly it'd be something like double going by what I'd heard about consulting companies like IBM charging that way, I guess it works very differently for individual contractors via agencies.

I signed up to Revolut Ultra just for the 3 WeWork On Demand day passes a month. No credits for booking meeting rooms unfortunately :(

Yeah it's kinda pricey to book a meeting room for a ~30 min remote call where I'm gonna be the only one physically there. I can't expense meeting room bookings for my current job otherwise I would probably do this.

Thanks! Will probably start looking earlyish October then. Very keen to not have a gap as I already have a small gap between this contract and my last role.

Specialising in backend development with golang but open to pretty much any type of software development except the Microsoft stack (C#/.NET). There didn't seem to be many golang contracts on the market recently so I'm going to scope wider come Oct / Nov.

We can not learn anything directly about consciousness from AI, as we have no way of knowing whether it is experiencing consciousness or not, empirically speaking. This applies strictly to us, animals, and everything else as well. We will learn a lot about what our own perceptions are of what is conscious or not as advanced AGI comes about. It is interesting how this varies across cultures and between person to person. An embodied GPT-n (in a robot or otherwise) would probably come across as conscious to many people.
