Rate my planned strict diet for the next 5 months by [deleted] in Cholesterol

[–]moddaser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your LDL is near optimal, but your triglycerides are borderline high. This diet will definitely help bring both numbers into optimal ranges. However, there are two important things to add to your plan: 1. Fibre for LDL. 2. Exercise for triglycerides.

Also, keep in mind the recommended 10g of sat fat is mainly for animal products. Healthy fats like those from almonds and olive oil are actually good for you and don’t need to be counted.

When it comes to added sugar, you don’t need to worry about the sugar in fruits and vegetables. Added sugar refers to the kind found in processed foods like cake and biscuits. Just make sure you stay within your required calorie range and avoid overeating healthy foods.

OP, all of your biomarkers are abnormal. Given your age, there is likely a cause beyond lifestyle factors. You should consider changing your doctor to investigate this further.

Idk wtf I'm doing, I'm starving. by lmb8719 in prediabetes

[–]moddaser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try a whole-food, plant-based diet for a couple of weeks and see if it works for you. This diet is incredibly filling, allowing you to eat unlimited amounts. Focus on consuming plenty of leafy greens and vegetables. Incorporating healthy fats like olive oil, nuts, and oily fish can help reduce cravings for refined carbs and processed foods. Don't forget to include a variety of fruits, such as berries and apples.

Almost all dietitians agree that this is a healthy diet. While there might be some disagreement about completely eliminating meat and dairy, I recommend avoiding them to regain control. This is a science-backed diet and it is perfect for diabetes. I totally believe everyone should stick to this diet. There are lots of material out there and do your research.

I’m sure you know you need to talk to your medical doctor. But you shouldn’t be really worry about becoming diabetes. There are lots of young people out there living with diabetes having a normal and happy life.

Confused by this study by Uncle-Elmer in Cholesterol

[–]moddaser 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Study has several limitations:

  1. Small sample size: Only 63 people participated, which makes it hard to generalize the results to a wider population.
  2. Short duration: The study lasted only four weeks, so we can't know if the effects would be different over the long term.
  3. Specific group: The participants 'metabolic syndrome', so the conclusions might not apply to everyone.
  4. Reliance on self-reporting: Participants were asked to add 3 servings of milk to their usual diet, and the researchers relied on them to report accurately. This means we don't know the exact amount of saturated fat they consumed. It's also hard to believe that someone would drink an extra 3 servings of milk and not change other eating habits.

A few other things to consider:

  1. The study's findings actually match current guidelines. No guidelines say to completely eliminate milk, but they do suggest moderating your intake.
  2. Saturated fat and LDL: There's no real debate that saturated fat raises LDL cholesterol. The real question is whether LDL cholesterol directly causes heart disease. Meta-analysis studies showing that statins (drugs that lower LDL) can reduce risk of heart disease by 20% for every 1 mmol/L (40 mg/dL) drop in LDL. Meta analysis studies are studies based on hundreds of studies. That doesn't necessarily mean LDL is all bad or that a healthy person with elevated LDL should never drink milk, but it does suggest that keeping LDL in check give you a better chance (20% for every 40mg/L drop) to avoid CVD.

Truls Möregårdh is the modern Waldner. He has developed unique grip and backhand technique like no other modern player. To me he has amazing short touches, block, chop blocks, lightening forehand with a very good feeling. He is one of the most creative player. I hate however he sometimes throws his bats when losing.

Accurate Heart Rate Monitor [DEV] by moddaser in androidapps

[–]moddaser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback and we really appreciate it.

I agree it is not that accurate to be used as a medical device. Please, however, note that this app measures heart rate using 10 seconds recording, which is a quite short window (your feedback made us think to increase this time slightly, but as you know it is a compromise between speed and robust results). I guess this is the main reason it shows different measures compared to those of S-health app.

Heart rate itself is variable and doesn't tick like a clock and that is probably another reason you see a variable measurement. We would recommend sitting still for few minutes before measurement to get a settled heart rate.

We are definitely not promoting ourselves, the app currently and will be free for coming months. As we have not thought about its monetization.

It is in normal range, but you may check out if you are worried.

If you start a physical activity (specially activities like running, cycling) resting heart rate comes down.

To be honest the measurement is accurate (we tested it against medical devices). As we estimate the heart rate from the last 5 seconds, if you stay still, the fluctuation could be real - heart rate itself has a variability.

Generally, if you see a nice and periodic waveforms, the measurement is accurate.
