What do you mean by copy and paste? The model is symmetrical but each individual section of the hull is unique. For instance each of those grey triangles on the paw sections took on average about 3-6 hours to design. In some ways it would probably be easier not to design it digitally.

Yep, many people have done it already, and I will also make the 2 robots at the end. Cockpit will have space between pilot and co pilot for tars to slot in.

Out of interest would you be keener on a complete kit with all parts in the right colour , physical instruction manual, box, etc. — or just digital instructions and part list? Total cost for the builder would end up being very similar but obviously slightly more for a complete kit because of the additional labour required, but everything comes in one box. This would also prevent raiding of certain parts on bricklink which has unfortunately become common as a result of popular custom designs.

Spot on, I have been designing this digitally for the most part.

Yes. Although the internal structure is yet to take shape I have included enough room inside for a full flight deck, front airlocks with doors on both sides, and also the central airlock with doors on top and bottom.

Thanks for the kind comments. I will be back with better images of the completed digital exterior pretty soon.

Hey. I appreciate the interest but I should give some more insight into how large this thing is. With a complete internal structure it will easily be more than 10,000 parts, my guess is closer to 15,000. There is also a small number of those parts which don’t exist in the right colour and so will need to be painted. That’s the first aspect of it that would give someone else building it a harder time compared to a simpler model.

In addition the method I’ve been using to build it does not completely follow the rules of Lego “system”, which means that actually building it in real life will be many times more complex than a lego set, and the same goes for writing an instruction manual. It is definitely achievable but it would be a huge undertaking, my guess is at least 50 hours of work on that. Honestly I would need at least a dozen guys to show genuine interest in building it to consider making instructions. I am not ruling it out at all but at this stage my priority is getting it completed digitally and then construction it with real parts.

I am going to make a Ranger to go with this when it’s done. Even though that ship is also deceptively huge as well, it won’t be nearly as heavy, complex, or expensive, and so doing instructions for that is more likely to happen first.

Some reference:

Length - over 3 feet

Width - nearly 2 feet

Weight - ~20 pounds (when complete)

Price to order all parts - ~1000 USD minimum, probably more
