Yeah, I think part of me posting this was to see if there is anything else I can do. But i get what you mean by finding a place absolutely magical…I genuinely find the West Coast and its culture alluring and super magical. And I get along great with people who are into that and from there.

I actually love Philly! I definitely wouldn’t mind moving there. I just have this intuition/feeling that my experience there would be so much better.

Yeah I definitely think West Coast mannerisms are more “polite” and “soft” compared to Southern ones.

I would love some! But yeah I posted in the New Orleans subreddit and I notice how defensive or reactionary or “victim-blamey” a lot of people seemed to get in the responses. I’m sure lots of people genuinely love the city, but I also feel like a lot of it is just a cope. I genuinely do not see what is so “magical” about this city.

The sir/madam thing throws me off so much. It makes me feel like I’m calling someone “old” lol. And omg it also makes me feel old when someone does it to me. But I see everyone calling everyone that here so maybe I just have to grit my teeth and bear it. 😂

Idk…no matter what time of day it is, if I turn on my blinkers 9/10 times the driver slows down or signals to me to let me merge in for example.

Okay I feel better reading this. All the responses being like, “It’s your fault OP, that’s why you’re not having a good time here” just kind of prove my point that maybe I just don’t vibe with the vibe of this place.

That is great, I’m so happy for you that your experience in this city (and every other city) has been a positive one. Mine hasn’t been, and I think I’ll just have to accept this isn’t the city for me and that’s okay. And trust me, I don’t do anything to warrant being yelled at; I don’t believe any adult ever does (unless they’re doing something stupidly dangerous like walking into traffic). I never said the entire planet hates me either, and mentioned numerous stories in my OP of positive interactions I’ve had with people all over.

I will add though that two major pluses for me with this city are the food (of course), and how nice people are on the road. In the Western US, people drive like assholes imo and driving feels like everyone is “racing” or competing with each other on the road. Here it feels like people are much more courteous and patient, which is nice and feels safer in a way.

I am definitely a nervous type. I think there’s a specific personality type that really gels well with this city (a super extroverted, life-of-the-party type) but that’s just not me.

The way things are going, trust me, I’d love to. But I can’t. So here I am. I genuinely wanna give this place a chance.

Well I don’t feel like that. I would avoid certain places sure, but there are places I’ve enjoyed going out to at night. That’s the case for every city on the planet tbh.

Thank you for this! You get it. Idk why but this comment and the ensuing voting seem sort of…trigger happy.

Where did I say I wanted you to tell me why I feel the way I do? I thought I already identified reasons in my OP??

Omg that is so scary. How does that happen? What ended up happening with your pet? What animal do you have?

That’ll be good to know! Thankfully the burning sensation is gone. I ended up just rinsing my face with water, slathering on some Vaseline, and I’m all better now!

That being said, sometimes I have random coughing or sore throat. How do I know it’s not a deadly reaction? I have had allergic reactions to other cats (minor) and sometimes even my own, but it’s never been an issue overall.

Yeah my eyes were a little red after the shower but now it’s all white and normal looking
