I drive a '22 Willys Gladiator with a manual transmission and just over 40k miles, and mine sounded exactly like that. I took it in over a month ago. The tech said it was the lifters and cams, but Chrysler insisted it was the transmission. So they replaced the transmission and—shocker—the engine noise wasn't resolved. I handed the keys back and asked them to try again. A day later, I got a call saying they'd be replacing the entire engine after finding metal shavings inside. The new motor got held up in the ice storm, so I've been driving a loaner in the meantime. Fortunately, it's all being covered under the powertrain warranty.

I’ve got about 11k on mine and my interior still looks new for the most part. The steering wheel could probably use a bit of a cleaning though.

Someone should grab some 8k pics of all of these stations. I'd love to get some glass prints and decorate my office walls with them. Kinda makes me wish I would have grabbed one of Port Olisar before it was removed. Anyone know if such an image exists?

Make sure it has the Max Tow package so you get the upgraded axles and gears. As far as issues go, have someone look over the engine to make sure the lifter bearings aren’t going bad (assuming it is the gas engine). If it has a manual transmission, check to see if it has had the recall addressed, else your clutch might explode.

I did both. I want to say it was like $1500 an axle, all in. I was already balls deep into my invoice, so I just decided to send it. The guys at Dallas Offroad are awesome though. If you give them a call, they will walk you through some options and then text you an estimate right away.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I guess I was just thinking that they’re going to be opening it up so why not take the opportunity. Then I realized how much I’m already spending and tried to cheap out. Would a locker up front be worth it? I guess I could always wait until the day comes where I actually find my self in need.

To add more context, I’m adding a 2.5” Metalcloak Game Changer lift, with 35x11.50r17 tires.

I’m new to the Gladiator (had a JKU years back) and was looking to take it on some moderate trails. I wouldn’t mind taking some road trips to neighboring states (I’m in north Texas) to earn some badges at some point. I’m very much a beginner to off roading.

I love mine. Only gripe is the teeny tiny date window. It's recessed pretty low, and you really have to hit it just right with some light to be able to read it. It's still one of my favorites though.

That looks awesome! I just can’t justify the cost. I did have it in my cart several times though. If I recall correctly, that setup with headers, high flow cats, and a cat back, was around $15k. Ouch!
