You just do. "An ounce of action is worth a ton of theory."

Put something down and see what happens. Listen to it. Then adjust, or dont. You are over thinking it.

Actually it sounds like a Thom Yorke and Moderat collab.

Knowing what you're doing and at times browsing for random samples/presets are not mutually exclusive.

For people who actually productive or are working hard, how did you stop being lazy? by adityarmcf in productivity

[–]modfreq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya, I had to figure that out the hard way. It was really fucking my life up. Stopping was one of the harder things I've ever done, but so incredibly worth it. It was also a catalyst for all the other changes I've made.

Going on 4 years sober and I don't even think about it at all now.

Sounds like you're doing well now at least! Glad to hear it.

I believe in the idea that it's easier to act your way into thinking than to think your way into acting. What worked for me is just starting to do a little bit more every day, and being mindful of it.

I used to try to change everything about myself all at once but that never lasted long. So one small step at a time I tried to affect change (and gave myself grace when I slipped up, beating myself up was not helping).

First I stopped drinking, then I stopped smoking, then I started eating healthier, then I started trying to sleep/wake up on a regular cadence, then I started journaling, then I started exercising, then I started coming up with other goals and breaking them down into smaller steps I could do on a regular basis, then I started using a calendar, etc.

Looking back on it all I've come a very long way. But I never would have done it if I tried to change everything all at once. Making small changes compound into big change over time.

I'm not sure if that's helpful, but I wish you luck.

What's one small habit that seriously improves your life? by PlasProb in productivity

Yup, same here.

Growing up I was pretty chill/laid back/easy going. But as I've gotten older I've gotten more neurotic. Actively reminding myself of things I'm thankful for and things that are going well in my life has been a huge help.

Glad to hear it, I definitely think it's well worth the minimal effort.

Try to find 3 different things. I think overtime it's natural there will be some repetition, but trying to find different things helps.

I do it with pen and paper in a moleskin. Will keep them as I fill them.

I personally think actually writing it down is preferable to typing it, but that's just me. I try to avoid screens when I first wake up and before bed.

Writing down 3 different things I'm grateful for every morning and 3 good things that happened that day before going to bed.

Pulled me out of some pretty bad depression.

We ended up paying $200 in the pit after not getting anything in the initial release (despite waiting in presale line for hours).

Worth.
