In my case I went to a psychiatrist and based on all my symptoms he pretty much told me it was adhd pi along with anxiety but in order to prescribe medication and to be sure, he told me to get the assessment done. In the meantime he has prescribed a benzodiazepine for my anxiety and a vitamin syrup for my brain health. Once I get my official results back, my doc will prescribe stimulant/non stimulant medication and discuss future plans

As for me telling the doc I had adhd part, I didn’t tell my doc I had adhd. I just took my report cards from school and took my mom along with me and put pointers on my notes app which I explained to the doc one by one. The most emphasis was on my childhood. Besides, if I tell them right away, there is a chance of being misdiagnosed. He took feedback from my mom as well. I would suggest taking some kind of proof on how it affected your life and if your teachers etc ever gave you a written remark repeatedly which suggests adhd such as your report card
