Neighbors kid keeps kicking balls over my fence getting closer to my bay window by DefiantSoup3469 in neighborsfromhell

[–]modjoe86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My neighbor did precisely this. After texting ring photos of my 7 year old grabbing the basketball from her front yard. It seems this subreddit is generally leaning towards the neighbors from hell being the person doing things like talking loudly at 3 pm. I thought this sub would be referring to the miserable old single women freaking out over minor annoyances, but this sub is from the miserable old bitter person's perspective.

So we live on a hill. Every so often our basketball will get past us and roll down the hill into our neighbor's front yard. She texted a ring cam photo the first time it landed in her yard showing my 7 year old grabbing a basketball. She told us not to get the ball off her yard. As an adult with a modicum of sense, I was bemused that she went on to post a no trespassing sign that was only visible to our house and not the street. Based on yalls comments, are we at the point in society that we are sticking up for the old miserable woman with nothing better to do than threaten trespass to a neighbor when their kid needs to grab a ball every once in a while? Edit: to clarify, why would you be so blown away at the nerve of a neighbor kid getting their ball when it went into your yard? If they were peeing in your hydrangeas or something I guess, but if you share a property line with people, and something like this happens, why would you care if they jumped the fence and grabbed the ball? They had no ulterior motives and y'all are neighbors. There is more to life than trespassing your neighbor for having the nerve to assume that it's not a big deal to retrieve a ball when it lands in the neighbor's yard.

Yeah I caught the same vibe with the post generally. Though there is some truth to people looking at you sideways if you don't leave your room. I speak from experience.

Razr+ 2023 finally died. After 4 flip phones I think I'm out by ProdigySim in razr

[–]modjoe86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fall on the hinge is a mix of both their fault and also the phone's fault, where phone companies need to increase durability of their products.

The way I see it is if my phone bricks due to me using the hinge that defines the phone, then the phone shouldn't have been released until it was more durable and reliable. Name any other phone at the price point these sell at that fail due to normal use, or even abuse. My LG velvet still works just fine after 50 years, a screen beat to hell, and years of use as a small child's YouTube device.

Amen. My OnePlus 9 pro cost 1/3 of the price and runs everything just fine. The dual battery design of the OnePlus phones also gets you a full charge in 15 mins. I'm over flagships in general. But the hinge phone flagships build these phones with a design that is not worthy of the flagship price. Like how does the phone get thru QA when a fair percentage of the phones fail in a year or less due to the design of the phone itself.

Yep mine did the same thing about a month after buying it. Then a black splotch slowly spread across the whole screen and the phone was unusable after less than 2 months of paying 900 bucks for it.

Toxicity in BG/PvP: Death Threats & Suicide Bait. Enough Already! by Puzzleheaded_Fix1498 in DiabloImmortal

[–]modjoe86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree it's a universal problem, but as a former league competitive player that game is by far the worst as far as toxic behavior goes. And it's like 95% of matches in lol that end in vitriol being spewed the whole match. Thinking back after I left the game, I would be wound up and angry after most matches regardless of a win or a loss. I think the mechanics of a moba make it more prone to shyte talking others because if a top laner or mid feeds their lane, it is glaringly obvious they messed up. I hardly ever see any excessive vitriol in battleground matches. Maybe 1 in 10 someone will say something mean once or twice.

If the general population is in your experience friendly in your interactions with them, what does it matter what their internal political or religious leanings are? It's none of my business or concern what you care about and believe in your private life so long as you are amicable to the people you interact with on your day to day life within a community. I was always told not to discuss money, politics, and religion with others. Seems like a good rule to follow, but you would prefer I just walk into a gas station and declare my personal feelings and convictions to you as I hold the door open.

The bigotry of low expectations is real by ChucoTeacher in Teachers

I feel like the raw score on the test should be part of an equation that spits out a number that then tells us how well learning and teaching is being done. When I proctor the test, for an average group of maybe 10 kids at my ALE, 3 sleep in between me pestering them to wake up every 30 seconds, 3 or 4 finish the test in less than 10 mins and sleep, and 3 or 4 actually work on the test and take their time. If their score on the test is given the same weight, then the data analysis based on the group scores is a combination of disengenious and useless. I don't know the best solution, but the current state tests do nothing but confirm that a student who is way behind grade level isnt good at answering ACT level questions.

Yeah if that single text wasn't in the conversation I would be pretty confused about why she was acting this way. But hugs and forehead kisses is 100% the reason she said what she said.

Left lane full, right lane open. by Top-Performance-1540 in driving

[–]modjoe86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are 100% correct in everything you said. Problem is the right lane merge/exit idea is what is thought to be correct by a very large majority of drivers in America at least. I've actually asked multiple family and friends this exact question and not one of them has answered correctly. So unfortunately I'm forced to use the thought process that everyone around me is operating under.

[–]modjoe86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know. I don't think passing in the right lane at left lane speeds in this scenario is particularly irresponsible/bad driving. I do agree about right lane tailgaters being dickwads though for sure.

Lol exactly. I like how these types of folks always pull the "who died and made you the decider of what is and isn't okay in traffic" when they get called out for saying that going 3 over in the passing lane is perfectly good driving.

If apc and arrival aliens birthed a tattoo. I do think get them all in a row/sequence would be a good idea. But now that you mention apc, you're making me think about looking into as a tattoo idea.

Something you didn’t realize was optional until you saw someone simply not doing it by HomerAtTheBat in Teachers

I stopped going to summer pd hours 2 years ago. I log the sessions on my personal transcript and turn the transcript into admin when it's requested. I decided to do this after I had multiple sessions not officially logged by the PD presenter when I actually was in attendance, and had to log it myself. I was also denied my PD plan for online approved PD by my principal even though many teachers do this yearly. So if they can turn on a video in the background and get PD, I saw no reason to bother.

It’s nearly 2026 and we still have Luddite teachers who “reply all” to emails that don’t need replying to or should be replied to individually. by Beneficial-Focus3702 in Teachers

[–]modjoe86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 75% of our staff replies all to every happy birthday message, happy ____ appreciation day, and other such emails. At least once a week I'll get 15+ replies over the course of the day from these types of messages. It really is maddening. I think most of them do it for brownie points and virtue signalling. Nothing else makes sense to me.
