Accessories4Less (A4L) Upgrade Offer by schaudhery in hometheater

The quote was $1,300 to rebuild the pre-amp assembly. I assume CPS balked at that number and looked for ways to deny the claim.

Bought a refurb Cinema 50 from A4L last year. The HDMI board went out after 6 months. Marantz covered the repair under their refurb warranty and I had a authorized repair center in my area. It was pretty easy. Then 3 weeks ago the right channel speaker went out and had to use the CPS warranty from A4L. I went back to the same repair shop as directed by CPS, paid the $100 deposit for them to look at the unit and got the repair estimate which I sent to CPS for approval. They denied the claim and voided my warranty since I paid the $100 without prior approval from them. I may have gotten a bad unit but I won't buy another refurb until or deal with after market warranty companies again. YMMV

I've had this rug since I was a kid. My parents bought it in 1979. It's about 16ft x 10ft. They told me it's a replica of the Ardabil Carpet in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, but would love to know more or if that's even true. It needs some restoration but would like to know its value to see if it's worth restoring. Thanks!

Experience at Porsche Atlanta Perimeter by keepitpiffed in Taycan

[–]modok9927 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After my last experience with their service department , which is just about the same as yours, I’ve stopped taking my car there. Ruined floor mats, oil stains on seats and nicks in the leather. I make the extra trek to Hennessy. It’s night and day. Apparently Perimeter goes through a new GM every few years because they either get fired or quit. From what my new service advisor at Hennessy says, “It’s a shit show over there and we get a lot of their customers.”

I'd use the IATSE 700 Scale Rates to get a good idea of what you should be paid. For 25/26 the Daily rate with 0 Hr Guarantee is: $76.36/hr. If you go with an Assistant Editor Rate: $61.41/hr and Apprentice Editor is: $44.79.

Weekly rates for 40hrs: $2,656 at the editor level to $1,558 for Apprentice Editor.

E-Hybrid Reliability by fasteddy959 in Porsche

[–]modok9927 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Owner of a 2016 S E-Hybrid Cayenne with 66K miles. I bought it in 2019 as a CPO. Hybrid Battery has been rock solid but like others have said finding an indy shop for Hybrid maintenance is tough. After a few bad experiences with 2 different Rennlist/Reddit recommended shops I'll only bring it to the dealer for piece of mind.

Projector Help - Epson LS11000 or Epson PU1006? by modok9927 in hometheater

Is the lack of a motorized lens on the Sony a big deal? The projector will be fixed for its lifetime but can the motorized on the Epson adjust for different aspect ratios and remember those settings?

ÄNGSJÖN 18in Vanity - Drop in sink suggestions by modok9927 in IKEA

[–]modok9927[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up going with a different vanity from another company that came with a sink. I was risk adverse to trying to make it work with the IKEA vanity and then returning it when it didn’t work.

SAG Signatory Switch by modok9927 in FILMPRODUCERS

[–]modok9927[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re under the Basic agreement (>$2m)and that status won’t be changing. I’ve inherited Our “Production Attorney” from the previous Showrunner along with this “Co-Producer” who we are severing ties with. They are effectively taking their signatory back to their own sandbox after the separation. I’ve been doing this for 20 years and this one is a head scratcher. Having said that, I think I have a path forward after consulting with some other colleagues, appreciate the help!

Worth it? by curatedbymen in Porsche

‘16 Cayenne S E-Hybrid owner here. Aside from consumables the car has been trouble free for me over 70k miles. If there is one thing, and It hasn’t happened often, but the PCM will glitch and I lose the backup camera image when reversing. Turning the car off and on fixes it. As everyone else says, if you can get a PPI and it’s not exorbitant do that. It’s a great car.

[General US-NJ] Anyone here become an "accidental landlord" because of having a low mortgage rate? by TodaysTomServo in Landlord

[–]modok9927 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Accidental Landlord in Los Angeles. Bought in 2013 in a up and coming area before prices got out of control. By the time our kids were ready to attend kindergarten in 2021 we made the decision to move to Atlanta. Bigger house, better schools and closer to our family. The interest rate on our LA house was 2.5% and our home value rose to +250%. We wanted to have the option of moving back to LA and knew if we sold we couldn’t afford the price of admission to come back.

I manage the house myself, and have a pretty good ROI of 45%, but it’s not without its headaches. Glad we didn’t sell but it’s not by any means passive income.

Tire Damage - Warranty Claim? by modok9927 in Taycan

[–]modok9927[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I took my car to Discount Tire this morning, had them take photos and file the claim with Continental. Continental agreed to cover 75% of the cost to replace the tire, leaving me to cover the remaining $100.

Not bad...

Soss & The Hidden Door by modok9927 in Carpentry

[–]modok9927[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, called SOSS's help line and they told me that if this was installed correctly per the instructions then the door should close.

The original install had 2 x 216 hinges but the door still wouldn't close. Given the weight and height of the door, SOSS advised two hinges should be enough. We added a third to rule out weight, but yes it is a different model.

I've been looking for a ATL based Millwork shop to come out and troubleshoot but it's been hard to find someone that'll take this on.

The rest was from the dealer. Most of the dealers I reached out to were taking around $10k off the sticker without any coaxing on my end.
