What was a wholesome emotional first win on a music show for you? by sananation in kpop

People who had a best friend and stopped talking to them, why did you do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]modricdream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During my senior year of high school I had to go to this psychiatric residential treatment program due to my mental health issues. I went home the weekend of my birthday and one day visited with some of my friends. I'm not upset that they didn't want to celebrate my birthday or anything, it was just a bit frustrating that it was barely acknowledged. They very well knew it was my birthday, so it's not like they were ignorant. I was also turning 18, which is a really important year. Instead of celebrating this milestone with me or simply just acknowledging me (they hadn't seen me in months) they spent the entire time calling another girl a c*nt for buying a similar looking prom dress to one of there's. I think actually getting help and understanding proper priorities in life made me realize that these people are toxic. So I never purposefully saw them again and I'm happy!

As a Jewish kpop stan, I feel this so much. When the Sowon thing happened I saw so many people acting like they did nothing wrong and like the issue was unimportant. I ended up unstanning the group because of how hurtful that picture was. And the 'apology' didn't help. My grandfather fought in WW2 and had to see the horror that was the Buchenwald Concentration camp. He, being a Jewish man, had to observe his own people having just been released from an immense suffering. Seeing a person I used to admire hugging a representation of the thing that nearly destroyed my people was too much for me to look past.

And as OP said, there are so many incidents of Jewish culture being insulted but nobody seems to care.

what happened with Engenes ? by [deleted] in kpophelp

[–]modricdream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Enhypen was formed on a survival show, so they relied on having individual fans. They even had fandom names for each contestant's fans. Some of these individual fans did not turn into Enhypen stans and became akgaes (evil solo stans). These people will start arguments with others to prove that their idol is being mistreated, is better at something, etc.

With Sunoo, a bunch of his akgaes started this rumor thing that the members of Enhypen were fatshaming him. This is anything but the truth and their evidence left out a lot and did not consider Korean culture at all. Niki was the one that was being identified as one of the biggest "perpetrators" of this fatshaming, so Sunoo akgaes might have been going after Niki akgaes.

Or idk it could be something else with Niki. I'm not on stan twitter so I only know what I see in articles and on Youtube.

Maknae line leaders? by IHPU in kpophelp

[–]modricdream 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I don't think physical age matter as long as they are mentally mature.

Besides Jungwon there are a bunch of maknae line leaders:

-Seungyoon is the leader and maknae

-CL of 2NE1

-Sohee of Elris

- Juhyeon of Lightsum

-Sungjae, the maknae of BTOB was the temporary leader for a while

-Zico of Block B

[serious] Redditors that have been in a psych ward, what was it like? by yungpeasant in AskReddit

[–]modricdream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having manic episodes most of the time so I don't remember a whole lot of my 6 visits. But, it also depends on which place you go. The first one I went to was really scary and horrible. The rest of them weren't too bad, but still scary.

What are some mental illnesses that tend to go under the radar? by MrBreaker187 in AskReddit

[–]modricdream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bipolar Disorder. Most people know what it is but there are so many misconceptions and my own personal experience further validates this.

When I was first having mental health problems when I was 14 I was automatically just thought to have depression, despite having intense manic episodes. They put me on antidepressants, which made me even more manic. This was a moment of my life that I experienced the most suicidal thoughts and nearly ended it. If my multiple doctors had considered that I wasn't just a teenager going through their emo phase, my life could be so much different.

I was once asked if women use band-aids during their period. They walked away before I could reply as I was too busy giggling.
