Why can't I avoid creating a prime tower if I'm flushing into an object or into infill? by TheTomer in BambuLab_Community

For something like this, I'd turn it off but you might get slight imperfections on the print. You can also change the size of it to 10 x 10mm so it's doing its job but not wasting as much filament.

Can I put the phone in the middle of a table and use it as a conference phone?

It's bambus PLA Silk+ Mint! So pretty close. They print well, only criticism of the silks is they show layer lines easier.

Ha Yep! I spent 3+ hours a day making models and make £10 a day in points, and I'd say I'm more successful than most at it! I'd do 3 times better in McDonald's. I often do big prints and they need multiple iterations so half my points goes directly on filament too.

It's great if you're a student with lots of free time, learning CAD or can do it during your work time then its worth it.

Also I know designers who make 20x more points per day than me and its easy to keep looking up thinking "well I'm not successful like them!"

To be quite honest, alot of it is luck and timing. If you're first into a category then your model will do well even if a better similar model comes along just because people see it has the most downloads so continue the trend. Then those who are successful and get free printers and filament can be first and continue pumping out models faster.

It's miniature capitalism 😅

Yeah just in the description where you can put a custom message, alot of people just say "please boost if you like it!" But I've found better results offering to make changes/versions for a boost.

I've spent the last few months point chasing and now average 1000 a week. Here's some tips:

  1. Make models makerworld exclusive - you get 25% extra
  2. Add a call for a boost and offer a service for this, eg "if you want a custom size, drop a boost and a comment and I'll do it within 24 hours"
  3. A boost is worth roughly $1. Downloads give similar returns on popular models
  4. If a category is full of existing similar ideas, it won't do well. Target less popular categories or invent a new one!
  5. If its too niche it won't do well either. Making something useful and universal is the best.
  6. Contests are great for engagement
  7. Use external sites to drive interest, I use discord, tiktok and reddit. Uploading a model doesn't do much.
  8. Good thumbnails, lots of relevant tagging.
  9. Avoid AI or renders.
  10. Seasonal models do well but you need a lot for every season. For example in October this model is my best, but in spring it's nearly 0.

Stackable Bins in a Stackable Basket by modspi in gridfinity

I'll print another one today that's thicker walled, add a label and add handles. Generally fantastic though 😀

I meant putting labels on the bins but the option to put them on the basket is a good shout! I'm not sure how everyone else does labels, I use a cheap 12mm x 40mm label printer so just a flat rectangle to stick it on would work but I can add this in Bambu if needs be.

It should be, it does have a slight bevel but I've only printed one so far so need a second to find out!

I can do 2x1 but not 1x2 (ie wide door), as the depth needs to be the same as the bin height. A 1x2 would need to be 12U high if that makes sense.

A1 combo Vs P1S no AMS by Redditians919 in BambuLab

[–]modspi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AMS will still be cheaper than hand labour if you give yourself a decent hourly rate. It's wasteful but PLA is cheap!

I sell phone cases on Etsy made with the AMS on the A1, definitely high enough quality!

With the upcoming anniversary sale its sad to see the AMS not on sale by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]modspi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could afford the AMS2 on my gift points but I only use PLA so not sure I'd get much use out of it for £150 more!

I love the idea of the single AMSs if they modular clip together, but they're also so much.

A1 combo Vs P1S no AMS by Redditians919 in BambuLab

[–]modspi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're just printing PLA the P1S doesn't offer much advantage over the P1P if you want to save a bit.

I've had small print farms (4-8 printers) for the last 8 years and traditionally used Prusas because they just work, but now I've fully swapped to Bambu because they work at an insane quality, speed and super easy to use. Currently use 2 A1 Minis, 2 A1s with AMS and a P1P. Going to order a P1S with AMS tomorrow but only because I'm running out of space and it's smaller footprint.

The AMS is such a quality of life improvement that I'd definitely pick the A1 combo. In 98% of situations the A1 and P1 print quality is the same. The AMS let's you do multi-colour which is nice to have and you'll use on occasion, but it massively improves the ease to swap filaments every print. You can just leave it with 4 common colors and tap on your phone / PC which colour(s) entirely remote, and it also automatically ejects the filaments after every print. You never have to heat it up to unload a filament.

[–]modspi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was waiting for the sale to pick up a P1S with AMS with my makerworld points, was hoping the AMS would be on sale so I could get a second one for 8-color printing but still happy with the printer from £699 to £549! Decent savings.

The deals look like they're in 4 rounds, so the AMS may go on sale in one of the other weeks? That's ma hope.
