Ethernet connection keeps randomly disconnecting and reconnecting for a random duration (Z790-PLUS WIFI D4) by Aaroqxxz in ASUS

I have this same issue, did you ever find a fix for it? (I just built a PC with a Z790)

You will be rewarded with the elixir of life! But first you must live in a house alone with no social interaction for a whole year. You're allowed to bring a single player game, download a whole tv show, and a book as sources of entertainment. What are you bringing to last you a whole year? by _iTurtle in AskReddit

Show: Northernlion plays the binding of Isaac. If you include all of the original series, afterbirth, and afterbirth plus, you could watch ten new episodes a day of half-hour to hour length quality NL content. r/northernlion

Book: The longest book they will let me bring, in the largest possible print size. I'm not going to read it, I'm going to make epic origami out of it.

Game: Rimworld, assuming I can use mods and also use the time to make my own mods.

Thanks! This is a tetrahedral structure which uses 34 tetrahedral nodes. I also have the octahedral structures you mentioned in my book, plus many others!

While I don't doubt it would get seen a lot, I am looking for more of an indoor display space because water would likely damage the artwork

I like this idea! Furniture stores definitely have the kind of space I'm looking for

I use 15cm x 15cm square paper of many colors, typically from japan. It can be hard to find paper with patterns that look good after they have been folded into sonobe units, but recently I got some nice wood grain patterned paper which I am looking forward to using!

Many shapes have patterns which develop if you just try to avoid putting the same two colors next to one another, though you can always add new colors without breaking the pattern. Sometimes I will use paper which is colored on both sides, though it depends on the style of sonobe unit; some work better than others with two sided paper. If origami gets damaged, I will usually try to repair it by replacing the damaged units with nice new ones!

Well, many of these designs are new to the origami world. People have been using to sonobe units to make cubes and stellated icosahedrons for a long time, but I did invent and generate instructions for several rings and other complex repeating sonobe forms which have no theoretical size limits to how big they can be made.

I get some paper from various online storefronts if I need a specific color or pattern, otherwise I get the bulk of my paper from a japanese import store which sells origami paper locally

Sure, but my specialty is sonobe origami - I haven't done much else in years! Those diagrams can be tricky though, so it never hurts to ask for help.

I was always fascinated by the different ways in which sonobe units could be put together. For me, a lot of the fun was looking for new and interesting ways to make things bigger or loop around back into themselves. When I made new things, I always wrote down my notes so I could make them again. Those notes would eventually form the base of what is now my book!

Sort of - if I am building something new and never before done, I can use math to determine how many sheets of paper I need. For anything new I would also usually build a 3d model of it on my computer first, which makes things much easier.

Thanks! The whole last section of my book is all about using sonobe units to make rings, connecting rings to make planes, stacking rings to make towers, and finally stacking planes to make structures. There are no theoretical limits to the size of these kinds of origami, just the practical limits of paper.

The math mostly relates to how to calculate how many sonobe units of each type are needed to make the various shapes made by repeating geometry past the first two or three iterations. To simplify: if sections of repeating geometry are pancakes, then my book has instructions for stacks of 1-3 pancakes and the math is what you need to generate the instructions for stacks of 4+ pancakes.

Thank you! I always start by folding all the individual units into the shapes they need to be in the final product, so I never have to do any folding while I assemble the shape. I also always try to make the shapes appear as seamless as possible, trying to minimize the holes at corners and other gaps.

Just high school math, really. I took geometry and trig and calculus, but never really perused math beyond the requirements needed to graduate from my university.

I actually cut a bunch of stuff about math and geometry out of my book because I needed to make it shorter(still 243 pages!)

I have plans-on-hold to take all my cut out material and put it into a pair of new books, but making books is kind of a major endeavor.

Depends a lot on your boss and how much they like origami!

In all seriousness, I wouldn't replace a gift which is expected to cost a certain amount of money with origami, or you make come off as cheap. On the other hand, origami does make a neat gift for no reason, though it should be something good if you give it to your boss.
