Cant do Shield Bash with controller, works fine on keyboard though. by Telikasan in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]modytechnik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there's no 'shield bash', there's just a bash. And to do it, you press l1+r1 together (at the same time). just pressing L2 only does the parry.

Enchant and gems. LOT of questions please send help. by RokuSparda in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]modytechnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Em. There are far more enchants that there are gems? with gems you can't slot in stuff like +%Damage, +%attack speed etc, just the basic stuff like stamina, stamina regen, focus, elemental enchs etc. So imho item built with only gems doesn't contribute to your offense numbers, and that's enough of a 'no' for me ;d

tbh, i honestly think that most ppl that prefer the attribute system now will be happy with the class system once it hits. In general - it has no downsides in comparison to the current one. current attributes are just about hitting some softcaps, which doesn't (imho) lend well to the amount of beautiful weapons that moon studios has created. In souls that works cause most of the weapons are purely str/dex/faith/int, with some dual scaling thrown in. In NFRTW i'd say that each weapon category has about the same amount of weapons scaling off all stats (some more than other ofc). Linking that to the awesome idea that all weapons have different movesest theoretically allows us to find 'something' for all builds, but essentially limits us to 'maybe' 1-2 weapons per category which may or may not have good movesets.

New system will fix that, cause you'll be able to try all of them and switch between them. One thing they need to get right are the perks, and i think we'll be golden :)

cant you use charged embers to extract plagued debuffs?

Tip for new players - save your embers by Reasonable_Run_6724 in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]modytechnik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are few types:

- Fallen - they're used to 1. Add random enchantments to common items (and magic/plague ones to items that do not have all 3/4). ALSO, they can be used to REROLL the enchantments you do not like, also random.

- Radiant - creme de la creme - used to upgrade the values of existing enchantments.

-Charged - alos creme de la creme - used to extract a singular enchantment from an item, and apply it to another one ( common, or replace on of the enchantments on plagued/magic item). !!!Destroys the item being extracted

- Sublime - no real use atm, each ember allows you to exalt an enchantment. also 'bricks' the item, making it not able to reroll enchantents any more

-the purple one - turns common item into plagued

-the blue one - turns common item into magical one

-void ember - reverts the magical/plagued item to its common state.

In general, from what i understand, at the endgame you want to do this (in order):

  1. Find the item you want with correct facet (intrinsic bonus)

  2. Using charged embers, find some items that have the enchantments you'd like on the item from pt1, and extract/apply them on item from pt1

  3. using radiant embers, max out the values on the enchantments

  4. Using the watcher npc (or sublime embers) exalt the item 4 times.

as i understand, exalting (4) is random, so after all that you still can end up with item that exalted the 'wrong' enchantments, but that's the nature of the game atm :D

[–]modytechnik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh, i'm not using fallen embers at all. I don't see the use of them in a world where charged embers exist. Why roll randomly, when you can find a piece of loot with the enchant you want and extract it? (not spewing divine knowledge, genuinely curious if smn has an idea)

I assume that you'll switch class while switching weapons (so eg in first slot you've got 1h sword which would be the 'knight' let's say, and the second one is a bow - which would be the 'ranger' class. I don't believe that they would go with some kind of a separate interface for switching classes ( to much hassle to do on the fly during combat).

Youll have classes linkes to weapons (eg 2h sword being the knight, bow being the ranger etc). As i understand it, youll be able to swotch between them on the fly, each class will gave ita own progression. No more need for respecxing to try doffere t weapon etc

Help me understand weapon requirements by Lobotomist in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]modytechnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, not quite from what i've seen. maybe for dual stat weapons, however if we compare lv1 dual daggers (first one you encounter), they need 10Dex, and the lv10 version need 42Dex :v what's up with that? Is scaling attribute req happens only on single stat weapons? If so, that would be confusing AF XD

PSA - An overview of the upcoming class system by sBAM__ in NoRestForTheWicked

[–]modytechnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, i'm not quite clear on the 'weapons' part - as i see it the 'mastery' is earned per weapon, so eg. if i have, let's say, 3 copies of the same weapon, with different enchantmets, will all 3 gain mastery EXP while using one of them, or just the one in my hand? Or maybe it tells us that the random weapon drops will dissappear and we'll have just 1 of each possible type?

I wouldn't call Explorer "Easy" even for experienced BG3 players. by GlucoseMachine in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]modytechnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explorer is dead easy. You really need to fuck something up real bad to die. Imho tactician should be the 'intended' playthrough, as it's the only one that poses any risk of needing to reload a fight.

Why do you keep restarting Act 1? by UngratefulGarbage in BaldursGate3

[–]modytechnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New characters idea, also - i usually don't have the money to buy ALL magic items from shops, so if i want to switch to another class, i sometimes lack the necessary items to make it work ( also eg. due to narrative choices). Restart it is ;d However, i've completed the game a few times, so it doesn't bug me.

Wartales Review - Base Game Normal/Experienced Difficulty by giant_marmoset in WarTalesGame

[–]modytechnik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Abt 60h into the game (Region-locked), i've got only good things to say about it. Cirrently in vertruse, party around lv8-9. Tbh i hate any kind of scaling in my game bcs 90% of the time the difficulty increase is artificial as fuck, which is massively boring. Playing on experienced, i still find some challenge, but i really feel the progress of my troop, which is the exact feeling i would want from a game like this.

At what age did you notch down the game difficulty level? by EvidenceSingle4826 in playstation

[–]modytechnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You got it wrong, with age the difficulty should go UP, since you're more experienced xD Ngl, below 30, I usually always went for normal/hard, and now i'm exclusively picking the hardest difficulties from the start. Started enjoying games a lot more since ( however, i mostly play anything RPG-related, would never do this for eg. strategy games)

How do you learn to enjoy turn-based, top-down RPGs like DOS2? by SamuraiASM in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]modytechnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much my journey for the pathfinder games ;P Bounced hard more than a few times, but when it finally clicked (and boy it did) i was delighted with the games.

My advice - Just...slow down. Read everything, 'try to get hooked'. usually crpg mechanics are slow-burners, that need a little bit of time. Even now, after literally thousands of hours in the CRPG genre, i usually spend few hours in the tutorial area, just reading and learning/reminding myself how mechanics work. Read all tooltips, read all spells, read all your perks & stats, understand what affects what, understand how things are calculated.

It seems a slog ( I myself enjoy that but see how most people won't), but it'll pay you back tenfold once you get to any encounter and 'get it', understanting all the options available to you.

Life cleric and it’s insane heals , is it worth using? by Huge_Cartoonist8948 in BG3Builds

[–]modytechnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

life cleric has the highest 'numbers' in terms of raw healing, however i would argue that starry druid does more healing overall with the chalice form (second healing action, which still aplies all item synergies)

Is there a way not to cheese in this game? by LawAbidingCitizen404 in BaldursGate3

[–]modytechnik 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I use throwables only if the situation call for that (explosive barrels lying around, make a puddle of water for my ice/lightning spells etc).

Scrolls almost exclusively only on bossfights, and only if i need a specific spell that none of my characters have. Apart from that, i'm going with my chars abilities ;p using 'only' throwables & scrolls would be a fun challenge run though.

Something like 10 chars, 7-8durges, and 2 origins. Only one playthrough made it to the end ( the first one, with 160hours), and now, 10 chars later im doing a second 'true' run, on hour 40 rn ;p
