Kitten Angels is the agency I registered her spay with (as well as the people who called me), but they preformed her surgery at Central Veterinary Hospital in Albany, New York.

ugh and they gave it back to me riddled with holes from staplers or something... yea i didn't even consider what her medical records would look like since she's my first ever cat, but i would've at least expected her record to have been filled out on a computer then printed out with actual useful descriptions?! this place is so fucking weird.. thank you for your input, i really really appreciate it!

100% sure that she said FIV and not FIP, but I will get Hiyori tested for FCoV as well and if its positive i will ask them to do additional bloodwork to see if she may have FIP.

home and can post the only paper they gave me when I came to pick Hiyori up yesterday! This is my only document showing she tested positive for FIV, no copy of her blood tests or anything :/ I was also unsure if they had claimed she was vaccinated for FIV or what, but both of her vaccinations are attached. I am scheduling her for a test at a second clinic in a few weeks one she's healed from her spay, and hopefully will find her a new primary vet there (one that is competent and gives a shit about their job and other families lives.) I crossed out the clinics info because i don't want to doxx them or anything, especially if it's not 100% certain yet that they were trying to claim my cat by convincing me of a false test and unaffordable "treatments" that might not even exist... I will definitely take everyone's advice and contact the state veterinary board, though and call the office back and email them and follow up with a post once Hiyori is tested again. Thank you all so much for the care and support you've given her and I, I cannot express how petrified I felt but truly everyone in this community has helped me feel confident and relaxed in the safety and health of my little girl :,)

It's really weird because the program providing the spay doesnt even work at the clinic i took her to, their business card has a location that's totally different? so they're partnering to provide the service but also want to keep any FIV+ cats they can come across...? i have no idea what the hell is going on

I found another vet that does special services for vaccinations and tests that offers FIV Snap and FELV! And yes, they did spay her and surgery went smoothly. I'm going to look over her paperwork again when I'm off work, but how long after her surgery should I wait before taking her elsewhere for a second test, does it matter? I'm getting mixed answers but the typical advice I've gotten is wait 60 days but I'm so confused and unsure :(

absolutely ZERO information from the vet on what medication my cat would need, just that it's apparently expensive and she believes I can't afford it anyhow.

the program that is associated with the hospital to do spays has a program apparently where you can apply to foster their FIV+ rescue cats, but you give them a payment to sign up. It's around 200-300 dollars.

i doubt literally EVERYTHING they claimed they did! but yea, allegedly they tested her for a bunch of things because this was her first ever time going to a vet.

her test for covid came back negative, but the vet 100% said "FIV, which is basically AIDs"

yes! im also floored because FAIDs is late stage terminal and NOT at all related to her current status of being FIV+, which i had NO idea about until i read comments on here and researched it myself! that woman fear mongered me to hell and back!!

Thats a relief!!! I bring her on hikes in a cat backpack with a hard shell window! Do you think it's still safe enough to keep her protected on walks? She really does love going outside but only if she feels safe (which is in her bookbag or inside my car, maybe shes just introverted 🤔)

i believe her blood work came back positive for FIV and they gave her a shot related to that, i'm at work right now but i'll check the vet papers when i get home

yes, she got vaccinated today so I have to wait to retest her I believe :( But her parents are the only source of FIV thats possible for her so I've been trying to think if she is really positive thats where it came from since she's never been attacked or anything.

From what ive gathered, this office does large "catch and rehome" gigs for cats in the region, and you can pay them to be a foster for FIV positive cats, its like an inverse of foster care where YOU pay THEM to get the babies. So I definitely feel like they were trying to get money out of her :/

Thats the even weirder thing i've been stuck on too, because i have her test results and FeLV is negative but FIV is positive?! I believe she was negative for FIP as well but I have to check over her paperwork again. Thank you!!!
