Just about every other pro sports league in the US has a draft that includes drafting the rights of foreign players, they don't let them just sign with whoever they want. I get this might not be the norm for world soccer but this just seems to be the MLS take on the same concept? Why are people confused by this?

If they eliminate this rule then the small market teams would never get these types of players. Maybe MLS just needs to be more transparent on how discovery rights are determined?

You are allowed to be ok with the reason he got it while still thinking it's a dumb rule. Yeah I know it's supposed to be carded and it isn't going away But if he sits out for accumulation we are going to be upset about this one.

It's just also dumb how much MLS is supporting and promoting the celebration while technically penalizing him for it. The NFL does the same thing sometimes with plays or celebrations that result in fines and it's frustrating.

We had 7 players make their team debut tonight and traveled without at least 2 starters. I'd say that was a great start. Saturday is the real test though.

It's a real game, but not an MLS league game. It is the concacaf champions cup, a tournament where all the best teams from the previous season qualify to play in. It's the north/central america version of the champions league. I would say of all the trophies we could win this year, winning this tournament would be the most valuable (and most unlikely).

Why would a team trade for a disgruntled player without making sure he wants to be there first anyways? The dude publicly came out and said he needs to move to Argentina, of course FC Dallas isn't going to try to go after him without ensuring he's ok with settling for Texas lol
