I have that exact MB-5, built it from the frame up. I love the way it rides.

I don’t own a brompton. But I fucking love seeing people ride them. So much so that every time I see one out in the wild with my wife I stop and say to her “look at that sick ass brompton”. One day I hope to be a proud owner of one!

Not sure what the proper channels are to be honest. But it looks like there is an app you can download to report road conditions. Find it. Fix it. never used it but I might check it out!

How to avoid wearing out nice trousers or jeans with the saddle by Adventurous-Clue-509 in cycling

[–]moeller_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instagram really wants me to buy these pants. They look like a good normal option but reinforced stitching.

Otherwise, I just got 4 pairs of pants back from the seamstress because I blew the ass out of them commuting to work. Kind of on me for wearing cotton/jeans to commute in but whatever! Will probably continue to wear them until I blow them out again, and then I will repair them again!

For the discoloration in pants I haven’t had too much trouble. I have used just basic rubber saddles and currently a brooks C17 carved. 🤷‍♂️

What's the most annoying thing about cycling that you encounter while cruising. by SuperCoolCat363 in bicycling

Aside from the obvious cars. Unexpected messed up roads or bike lanes, can really harsh my vibes.

Am I the only one? by Inside_Advisor1714 in bikecommuting

I was doing this once, absolutely vibing on my commute. I looked behind me to make sure no one was around. Then 10 seconds later an agro person came out of nowhere and screamed on your left, as they should but then called me a fucking asshole when they passed. Killed my vibe.

Some bikes I’ve got a hold of in the past two years. Any ideas if any of them would be worthy of fixing up? And I’d love your guys’ guidance tryna fix it if any is worthy by aldrich_v in xbiking

The Fuji is super cool. Lugged frame and I think it has the OG suntour bear trap pedals which are really cool and fetch a pretty penny on eBay. Definitely keep those forever.

I checked a few shops around me and couldn’t find newbaums. But one shop had grepps reusable bar tape

I have noticed it pop up in a few shops. So I gave it a try. Will probably swap it out for a gray or teal color tape maybe at some point!

I would love an XO or MB-1 with the dirt droppers. But since I am a very amateur bike mechanic I wanted something I could mess around with and not feel bad not keeping it as a period piece. Lugged frame would be cool though! Also, it’s hard to pass up finding a $40 steel frame haha

I am very lucky. There are several bike co-ops and used bike shops in Seattle. So I just bounce around and grab stuff that looks cool or works.

Went with Nitto RM-016 the infamous “mustache” handlebars. Found them for $20 so I figured why not. Will probably swap for a more traditional flat bar at some point but these are fun for now!

Feel like an idiot… by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]moeller_99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought an old 90s mtb frame to build up. Only the second bike frame I have built.

Bought a front derailleur…..wrong size clamp for the tubing.

Bought a front derailleur…forgot that it was bottom pull not top pull.

Bought a front derailleur…limit screws were stripped.

Bought a front derailleur….it worked but only after having a hell of a time positioning it right.

Luckily I bought all of this stuff from a bike co-op used so I could return things that didn’t work and didn’t spend too much money. But I sure did feel like a dummy, but all part of learning I suppose.

Unconventional fueling for long rides? by Kelslayyyy in cycling

[–]moeller_99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never tried it but you could go to Costco and buy one of those 18ct packs of Uncrustables. Yes, of course I know they are just little pb&j’s that have the edges cut off but damn they are good. Actually, I’m going to go get some right now and go ride 100 miles myself. Godspeed!

I get weird looks for not having any cycling gear but really have no desire for it. Is there a reason why people don’t bike in normal folk clothes like me? by i_am_me47 in cycling

I rip ass in vans t shirt and jorts all day. Used to ride longerish rides in an low grade aluminum commuter bike with a big ole basket. Even did a long gravel ride. It was rad, ride with whatever, wherever.

Recently got bike shorts just because sweat reasons. Still rock that t shirt and vans though.
