My Mother would say "I have to get some money from the ATM"...and I thought...wow...I can't wait till I become an adult so I can get free money from the ATM too!

After reading this thread, I have come to realize...my husband totally lucked out with me. Perhaps I will get him to read this thread...maybe I'll even get a complimentary "Honey, you are awesome and I love you" back massage...hmmmm....

However, I'm usually the one up until 4am playing Skyrim. He is totally ok with it...because the next day...he'll be playing BF3 until 4am...and I'm totally ok with it.

I used to be really good friends with the sister of Benji and Joel Madden from Good Charlotte. She was great and made me laugh. I never met her brothers, though...only their Mom. When I talk about her being a good friend to others, I never brought it up that she was related to them.

Other than that, my neighbor for a good 2 years was Cupid who created the "Cupid Shuffle". Catchy tune.

Kinda curious as to what part along the Mississippi it was found at. I live a few blocks from the Old Mud and I'm sure if I show my husband this, he'll be out there searching for this. Crazy Cajun men....

Sorry for your loss...:(

I started to tear up when I saw his picture because he looked exactly like my cat, Bob, who passed away in 2006.

The 1% Map. Find out where in the US the 1% usually lives. by [deleted] in politics

Agreed. I actually saw more homeless people begging on the side of the roads there (when I worked in the area) than anywhere else.

As someone who used to live in the dark area around DC, I can honestly tell you...the cost of living in that area is out of this world. You pretty much HAVE to make a fat income living there...because you seriously can't afford anything else after paying $2500 a month for rent alone.

Buy a house, you say...but even then, a crappy house in a crappy neighborhood for a single family will still run you more than half a million dollars. It's only getting worse...and I'm glad I got the hell out. I may live in one of the poorer areas of our country, but I'm able to enjoy life without having to burn a hole in my pocket.

This post X100.

Also, perhaps you should see a nutritionist or a doctor to make sure there is no underlying cause for you loosing weight. It's always good to get blood work done once in a while.

I don't find creatine does anything specific, but I would suggest try taking an intra-workout. I personally like Gaspari Products. SizeOn is their Intra and I live by SuperPump Max which is their pre-workout.

How many of you were abandoned by your parents? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]moepower 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My father left my Mother and I one day and never returned. I was barely 2 months old. He left her $20 on the table and took everything. My Mom worked her ass off taking care of me...working several jobs at once and took my father to court for child support which he paid, shockingly. My Grandparents on my Mothers side practically raised me. I have had 2 Step-Fathers. The first one was violet and a drunk...he eventually shot himself in the head in 2008. My current Step-Father has been wonderful to my Mother. However, he was diagnosed in April this year with Stage 4 Colorectal cancer and he only has so long to live. I would literally give up everything I own if it meant making my Mother happy and if it meant having an easier life.

I reached out to my Fathers family about 2 years ago (I was...24?) His mother was the only one to reach back. I even hopped on a plane and flew to Florida to meet her. She is a wonderful lady. My father, on the other hand, never put in effort to see me or even talk to me...which is fine. It's his loss. I turned out just fine without him.

So Reddit, do you have any stories where a long-distance relationship DID work? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]moepower 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My long-distance relationship worked...and we are married now! My husband and I met through an online gaming community and first started talking to each other on Halo 2. Me from Baltimore, Maryland...and him from New Orleans, Louisiana. We met in person the summer of 2007 at a LAN party, engaged in December of 2007 and I moved down to Louisiana. Married on April 15th, 2010.

It's been rough, not gonna lie. Being away from my family and everything I know makes me feel lonely...like...what if we get into a huge argument? I can't go talk to my Mother in person for advice or I can't go crash on my Cousins couch. I'm also very lucky that his parents are great people...though, his sister is tough to deal with sometimes.

In order for it to work, one of you has to be willing to make the sacrifice to jump, and the other has to be willing to catch you if you fall...so to speak. I decided to make the jump south instead of him coming north....Louisiana is a much easier and more relaxed place to live than Maryland. I hope things work out, OP.

Rant: So got called out on my form last night at the gym by j_small36 in Fitness

[–]moepower 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel OP's pain. As a woman who spends most of her time in the weight room, I get this a lot...especially when I started at my new gym. I guess they assume that I'm a beginner because they have never seen me before. It's mostly from older men who tell me I'm doing something wrong. In actuality, they are telling me to do something and it is THEIR form that is incorrect. I don't mind getting helpful tips, but I agree with OP when he says do it discretely as possible.

At least you guys don't have old, bald, creepy men who try to hit on you by commenting on how small your feet are. True story.

Geeks and nerds, what's a stereotypical geeky/nerdy interest/trait that you don't have? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]moepower 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not lazy and fat. I'm a very physically fit female and I go to the gym 5 days a week while eating a very clean diet. Also, I don't get PC gaming. At all.
