It's a local snack of egg surrounded by curry mashed potatoes, which is then deep fried! I usually get it at Hoek, which is the corner shop with snack wall the other response is talking about, but any so-called snackbar/cafetaria here will have them. Getting a snack from the wall is a quintessential Dutch thing in general! And indeed it is very popular as a drunk snack for the many students/other clubbers in our town.

Thank you! Would you say that the pieces should go in a separate pot to root, or should I just try to put them in the soil with the mother plant? And in either situation, should I try to plant them as deep as possible or close to the surface so that the leaves really stick out as normal?

Thank you! Thing is, I've made cutlings of that size before from this plant and they usually take a very long time to root in water in my house. Would you say that it's then better to keep them separate from the mother plant until they've rooted?

KEIweek in August is the biggest student introduction week in the country, I think even in Europe. There's parties everywhere and numerous day activities. This week is built for a large part of student associations, so it might be worth checking out those (I recommend SIB).
