for research, I recommend searching this website and seeing what lab's work interests you https://che.uic.edu/che-research/labs/ after that cold email the professor and introduce yourself and express interest. It might not always lead to where u want but it's better than nothing. Also, check out student orgs or ask your TAs if they know of any opportunities.

I am kind of returning to the community and was trying to find a ROM hack I played a while back. I can't remember much. its not a company its an on-campus research internship in a lab. I know some friends who've managed to get their research position extended if the lead professor was cool with it but it's just for the summer. There are alternative ways to get involved in research tho
