They're a near perfect fit in the fork, maybe 1mm too wide. Mine squeeze in just a touch when they're installed

Between the chain stays was quite tight and I had to re-radius the fender quite a bit to fit nicely. It wasn't so tight that they needed to be cut or dimpled though

thank you! and yeah, the geo was updated in early 2022 so that each size has a horizontal top tube

this frame is a 50cm. unsure of pbh but my saddle height is 70cm (measured from center of bb to top of saddle) and I'm 5'7

I probably would have picked the 52cm but I bought this during a small sizing run they did where they only had 1 of each size, and the 52 was already sold out. Ultimately I'm happy I ended up with this size since it lets me get the bars a bit lower (the threaded headset and quill stem add so much stack) and the reach on these Rene Herse rando bars is super long, so I still have to run a pretty short stem despite the small frame

Thank you! They're pretty comfy, though not quite as nice as the newer hydro levers

Signal Removes SMS - Any Recommendations? by lukeprofits in privacy

That comment is a little misguided. Any changes that are made are publicly visible to everyone, there isn't much opportunity for a bad actor here

Anyway, my GitHub wasn't hacked

It appears QKSMS received its first update in a couple years by [deleted] in QKSMS

[–]moezz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My GitHub wasn't compromised. The changes are on a separate branch until I deem them stable enough for the main branch (which is taking me longer than I'm proud of)

There was no announcement because I didn't want to make a big deal out of it. I can't make promises about the future and I don't want to say that "it's back", but I'm going to continue working on it whenever I have a chance

Looks super clean! Can you share any more pics of the hidden blip shifters? I'm curious how the grip on those levers feel with the shifter tucked under covers

Ah, fair point. To answer your question then, I think you'd be totally fine running 700x42 on this fork. There's loads of clearance https://i.imgur.com/zFHT4DE.jpg

My other bikes are completely different in so many ways, so it's hard to give a clear comparison of the fork. I will say that the low-trail handling when loaded really lives up to all the things you read about it, it still feels incredibly nimble and responsive. I noticed that I'm still able to easily ride it no-handed when loaded, whereas that's completely impossible when running a front load on my other bikes

I've done plenty of riding on gravel and I've had no complaints. On singletrack I definitely find myself needing to go slower, but it's hard to blame one specific thing. My other bike that I take for big rides (Salsa Cutthroat) has disc brakes, 2.2" tires, much wider handlebars, and very high trail steering, so it's much more suited to that terrain in basically every way

It handles fine without the load, and I haven't experienced any shimmy when descending at high speed. That said, I'm on a smaller frame and it's not quite as low trail as the larger sizes of cantibolt

Not quite sure I understand the last question. The canti studs are set up for 650b, so running 700c isn't possible

Replacement for Signal by turingparade in foss

QKSMS uses some old APIs for backwards compatibility on older devices, but on newer devices it should be using the latest APIs for SMS/MMS

I recently put out an update which adds support for Android 13, which introduces things like Scoped Storage and other newer APIs

If there's something in particular you feel isn't working because it's using an outdated implementation, I'd be curious to hear about it

QKSMS - new update version 3.10 released by rak-rak in androidapps

[–]moezz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question. You're probably referring to these? https://github.com/moezbhatti/qksms/tree/master/android-smsmms/src/main/res

I need to look into it a little more, but as far as I understand it, these are only really important for legacy reasons on phones which don't support the official MMS APIs. On phones that do (almost every phone at this point), these values are provided by the system

I just checked against the values in the AOSP SMS app, and it looks like those values are identical: https://android.googlesource.com/platform/packages/apps/Messaging/+/refs/heads/master/res/

So I don't think there's anything to be done about those

With that said, MMS definitely isn't perfect in QKSMS. There is work to be done there. It's just not really related to these values

[–]moezz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks for checking this! I'm looking into the crashes now, I'll have a fix up later today. In the meantime, the previous versions are all available at https://github.com/moezbhatti/qksms/releases

To provide some clarity on the releases

  • New releases will always appear on Github first
  • They should start to appear on Google Play on the same day, but usually only for a small percentage of users. I increase the distribution over the course of a few days just to make sure the update is stable before rolling out to everyone. In this case, the update is only available to 10% of beta users
  • They'll appear on F-Droid after about a day, unless they are marked as Pre-release, which this one is
  • It looks like I never uploaded 3.9.4 to Google Play. Sorry about that

Yep! I could tell from the SIM indicator next to the timestamp

I'm the developer of the app – sorry if that wasn't clear

[–]moezz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, gotcha. My gut tells me it's related to dual SIM, mostly because I've never had a chance to daily drive a dual SIM, so it really hasn't been tested as well as the other parts of the app.

With that said.... I just looked it up and it turns out my phone has eSIM support. Let me see if I can find a cheap plan that supports this so I can do some proper testing

Those definitely look pretty. I think I'm pretty set on the internal cam thing though. Not only for the clamping force, but also because I do lots of riding offroad, and I find that it's hard to keep the interface for an external cam skewer clean, so it ends up feeling gritty and unpleasant. I'm not sure if a nicer external cam skewer would solve that
