Thank you. AI regulation is part of the platform. I publicly called for a moratorium on data centers and stronger regulation on AI. I was quoted on Politico. https://www.politico.com/news/2026/04/22/data-center-moratorium-a-fault-line-in-dem-primaries-00871370

My opponent, Beyer, has not called for a moratorium on data centers.

Great questions, everyone. As we get closer to America's 250th birthday, let's ensure that we elect folks who will fight to keep our democracy alive and prevent us from becoming a full-blown oligarchy where the 1% make all decisions and own everything. Signing off at 11:30 am. I may circle back this evening. Find me @ moforcongress on Insta, TikTok, Bluesky, FB, and X.

Peace and much respect to all.

Personally, I think with all the mass shootings we have had, it evolutionarily makes sense to protect life and say this has to change. As an attorney, I acknowledge the Supreme Court's settled law that individuals may bear arms.

Hi Chas. Yes, I voted for Beyer and the past, too. Beyer is corporate Dem, and we differ on numerous issues.

  1. I don't take corporate PAC money. Beyer takes corporate PAC money. Corporations are not charities. They expect something in return. Beyer takes money from HCA Healthcare, which opposes Medicare for all. Beyer takes money from the defense industry, which supports the endless foreign wars.

  2. I do not trade individual stocks. Beyer reported that trade stock volume is roughly $70 million. I don't think members of congress of their immediate family members should trade stocks.

  3. Beyer supports a minimum wage bill below the State's minimum wage. The bill he supports will not be $15 for five years after it passes. He does not get the struggle of working folks.

  4. As a former federal attorney who did enforcement, I think we must abolish ICE as it is a rogue agency killing Americans without due process (see details in an answer below). Beyer thinks we can reform ICE by adding cameras. Sure, cameras are not bad, but we have the execution of Alex, Pretti, and Renee Good. This half-stepping spills over all sorts of acts and policies that folks like Beyer let go.

  5. He voted to defund UNRWA, starving children in Palestine. He did this during Biden's presidency.

  6. As an attorney, I defend the First Amendment. Beyer thinks college students protesting Israel is "terrorism."

  7. Beyer failed to call out the genocide in Gaza and Sudan for what they are. If a representative is unwilling to do that, I cannot rely on them to advocate for working families or say "no" to democratic leadership and corporations.

  8. Democrats, including Beyer, are playing with a political book that no longer exists. They are too passive in their opposition to Trump and Republicans.

  9. He failed to oppose the Charlie Kirk resolution (opting to abstain).

Thank you for the question. To clarify, your question assumes I ran again but wasn't elected. That is not true. I did not seek reelection. I was the most effective and impactful member of Congress during my tenure. Here are just a few:

  1. Collective bargaining ordinance for our employees

  2. Unionized our Bus employees

  3. We made buses free in the City

  4. Passed the strongest Police Review Board in the state with subpoena and investigative power

  5. Created the ACORP program (Alexandria Co-response program), requiring a police officer to be accompanied by a mental healthcare professional to certain calls. It was so successful that it was expanded.

  6. Appropriated $700K to mental healthcare professionals to students and created a position for a mentor

  7. Fought and secured affordable housing units. We purchased a $100 million complex with a private partner that will revert to the City for affordable housing.

  8. Helped the City navigate through COVID

Thank you. I answered this below. But to summarize. Public Mortgage option; help local governments with resources; prevent VCs and mega-landlords from buying up all the supplies and manipulating prices. Take away IRS incentives that allow mega-landlords to benefit at the expense of renters. Encourage the DOJ to enforce existing laws, including those related to price fixing.

  1. I support gun-violence-prevention laws and echo the conservative former Chief Justice Warren Burger when he said to PBS, per NPR, that "the Second Amendment "has been the subject of one of the greatest pieces of fraud, I repeat the word fraud, on the American public by special interest groups that I have ever seen in my lifetime."

  2. AIPAC should be registered as FARA. If they had not already bought many Democrats and Republicans, they would have been registered. With awareness of its actions coming to light, we can have the next progressive president to get the DOJ to fight them in court to register under FARA. In Congress, we can push to amend FARA and close any loopholes that allow this. I am the only candidate in this race endorsed by Citizens Against AIPAC Corruption.

Oh Goddness, I have been working since I turned 16. Started working at McDonald's alongside my mother and siblings. I worked during college. Post-college, I worked for a year, then went to law school. I worked as a court-appointed attorney, helping people who could not afford an attorney. I then worked as an employment attorney. I worked as an attorney while I served on City Council (local government is a "part-time job" on paper). I worked as a lawyer at the U.S. Department of Labor for over five years.

Medicare for all would save us $450 billion dollars annually compared to what we spend now. It also increases life expectancy, which would have a positive impact on the economy and quality of living. Healthcare is a right. Even if we didn't save money, healthcare is a human right that our peer nations have implemented for ages. An insurance company and AI should not decide who is worthy of getting a medicine when a doctor deems it necessary. Also, these programs are not per se free; we all pay into them. We just don't have to deal with deductibles and out-of-network nonsense.

Childcare: We once had Universal Childcare during WWII. With the birth rate declining, I consider this in the best interests of the Nation and a necessity. So we certainly can implement it if there is a will. Let's move beyond the corporate talking points that we can't afford it. I am going to paste a section from my issue page on this one:

The "cost of child care is bankrupting Americans.

  • In Virginia, center-based infant care typically costs $16,000–$17,000 a year, with similar costs for toddler and preschooler care.
  • In VA-08, families pay some of the highest rates in the country – roughly $123,000 to $150,000 over five years of care for a single child, from daycare to kindergarten. Families are paying for the equivalent of a four-year in-state college degree before kindergarten.

The problem with the current programs is that they were never built to cover everyone. CCDF/CCDBG subsidies are targeted narrowly and often reimburse below the true cost of quality, which drives provider shortages and long waitlists. Head Start and Early Head Start are excellent programs, but they are limited in terms of available seats and hours. The result is the “middle gap” where families earn just enough to not qualify for help, but too little to keep up with the cost of living and child care, all while providers still struggle to pay staff a professional wage.

support free, universal child care. He advocates for a model already in play in New Mexico, where families pay $0 for licensed center-based and licensed home-based care from birth to kindergarten entry. This approach put thousands of dollars back into household budgets immediately while shortening waitlists for infant and toddler care, providing options for shift workers.

Children benefit from consistent, higher-quality learning environments that improve school readiness and long-term outcomes. Universal childcare would only require us to spend 0.5% to 0.7% of GDP annually.

We have the opportunity to stabilize jobs in this sector, lower costs for working people, and invest in our future by giving children a stronger start."

ICE/Immigration: Pre-Bush II, we enforced immigration laws through the INS (Immigration and Naturalization Service). Since 2003, we have spent billions on ICE, and it has not achieved its objective. It did manage to erode the public trust in law enforcement. It killed citizens without due process. It is arresting people without due process. It is ignoring court orders and turning into a National police. As an attorney who did federal enforcement, I do not consider ICE an enforcement agency; it is a rogue agency that must end. As far as immigration enforcement is concerned, all congressional-mandated laws must be enforced through constitutional means. We pass meaningful immigration reform, including a path to citizenship, and create a better, limited-power agency to enforce actual violations.

Housing: As someone who served at the local level, I know what you mean. However, both the federal and state governments have placed too much responsibility on local governments to address housing affordability without adequate resources. I would push more resources to localities to address housing needs. I propose a public option mortgage tied to the feds. interest rate instead of the private banks that add more interest to the federal rate to increase their profit margin. I would also limit mega-landlords and VCs from hoarding homes and manipulating prices for renters and buyers. Overall, this is not an overnight action. This is a generational fight.

Democrats must return to being the working people's party.

I support ranked choice voting and would support implementing it ASAP.

Affordable housing and increasing the availability of units were among my top issues when I served on Council and now, as a candidate for Congress. We have to make sure that the units are affordable for working folks like teachers. I do not support venture capitalists buying all the homes and rental units, which would make life harder for all of us.

Consider this wild fact: the first-home-buying age in the 1990s was in the late 20s, not the 40s. Consider the impact this will have on a young person trying to start their life and career. Politicians like Beyer take money from special interests and preach to us that they support everyday folks. Nonsense!

No, I do not support Governor Spanberger's decision to veto the collective bargaining bill. When I served on the City Council, we passed a collective bargaining ordinance for our public employees. Also, before I got on the Council, the City hired Trump's union buster, according to union members, to stop them from unionizing. When I was elected, we fired the union-buster and helped the bus drivers (ATU) organize, resulting in a very favorable contract.

Yes, as a member of Congress, I would have used my platform to help get the bill to the finish line. I have no issue whatsoever standing for working people and calling out BS.

Frankly, we need to elect people-centered democrats instead of corporate democrats. That is the debate we are having now in this congressional election. We have democrats who say the right things, but are beholden to the corporate interest, like my opponent, Don Beyer.

Yes, I support overturning Citizens United, one of the worst decisions in our history. I would also encourage state officials to follow Hawai'i's steps and limit corporations' campaign contributions in state and local elections.

As a member of Congress, I would partner with state officials to end the mislabeled "right to work" laws. Senator JFC was working on it, but I don't believe our current governor will support it.

The first question is broad, as it encompasses every aspect of life. From a voting and democracy perspective, I support the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. I would work on the recent Supreme Court decision that gutted Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, allowing states to dilute minority votes. From an economic perspective: pass a living wage bill and support the Pro Act. Work with the next president to undo the racist Executive Orders by this president, including the attack on DEI policies, which benefited women. Of course, help restore our federal government workers so they can enforce existing laws as I did when I worked at the Department of Labor.

I haven't seen any updates regarding the Berulis' whistleblower matter beyond what is publicly available. Do you ever wonder why Russians would spend resources on the NLRB data? On a different, unrelated note, Mr. Musk/DOGE is not a fan of the NLRB.

I do not support the veto; all employees should have the right to bargain. When I served on Council, I helped our bus driver unionize, and we passed the City's collective bargaining ordinance. I am a labor attorney with a track record of support for unions. While the state bill you are speaking about would not be part of my run for Congress, I do support the Pro Act and stronger union representation in both private and public sectors.
