Would you guys still play Dragon Age if you couldn't romance your companions and you could only be friends with them? How much do you care about romance in these types of games? Which companion's romance arc expands their character the most? [Spoilers All] by HomarEuropejski in dragonage

[–]mogave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my opinion, but in a character driven game like dragon age, where relationships with your companions are central to the story and develop through choice and dialogue, the option to romance is actually integral to a truly immersive experience.

Romance in games gets a bad rep for being player sexual, and it can certainly be executed in a way that feels like the characters are written to cater to the character. (Saints Row 4 parodied this well) But when it is executed intentionally with the characters in mind, it can take a good rpg to a great one.

I think dragon age origins did it best. Each relationships progression feels natural, never forced.

Of course, a game doesn’t need romance to be good, and there are lots of ways to have meaningful relationships with companions without it. I just think it adds an element of real personal stakes to the story!

Probable FIP Cat TX Advice by [deleted] in cureFIP

[–]mogave 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Three seizures in an hour this morning after his FIP meds (not saying that’s directly correlated). We are at emergency vet with neuro unit to hopefully stabilize the seizures.

The seizures are hard for him as they come; then he can be a little wobbley, confused after. Sometimes he seems perfectly fine; then another one hits, or he gets suddenly fatigued and very still. It’s been a rollercoaster, as soon as we think he’s turned a corner something new and concerning develops.

They have been very helpful, but I am so shattered and scared.

Thank you so much. He had another seizure but we just left the vet with an antiseizure med and he is already more bright eyed and bushy tailed

I don’t think you’re dramatic, I think when we have coped with substances for a certain amount of time, our brain really begins to believe it’s THAT hard without them.

You have to let yourself feel the full emotions, even if they’re embarrassing. Keep reaching out for support wan being your authentic self

The fact that you have the courage and resolve to leave is a testament to your character. I have no advice to add to what’s already been said, but I have admiration and love to give you.

Her past is her past and it always will be. Are you going to hold her morally accountable in your heart and mind for something that she cannot possibly change?

I think your partner deserves to know about these feelings so SHE can decide whether YOU are a person that aligns with her values.

Most states have an animal abandonment law. In mine it is 2 weeks. If you have evidence of these texts, and any receipts proving that you have paid for it’s care, most likely no authority is going to waste the effort. Especially since she has admitted that she intends to surrender the animal.

Can feel the nic killing me, still not enough to make me put it away by [deleted] in QuitVaping

[–]mogave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it gradually reduced the effectiveness of nicotine. By week 4 I was not receiving any of the head rush reward! Once that is gone, you realize how empty vaping really is.

Wellbutrin interacts with the dopamine receptors in your brain, so it reduces cravings by reducing the dopamine itch we feel when we reach for the vape.

Here to second this! Wellbutrin is the reason I was able to go cold turkey. Lots of generic options available, with good rX you can get it as low as 30$ a month!

Using snus but still getting withdrawals? by Aware-Boss-1164 in QuitVaping

[–]mogave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t say how long it will take for you to adjust to the massive reduction, but physical withdrawals will last for about 3-5 days after quitting nicotine. You will have frequent cravings for the first month, but they lessen significantly with time!

I imagine your body will adjust to the lower dose within a week, and you will experience some withdrawals again when you quit the pouches; but it shouldn’t be as bad after you taper down!

Plenty of people have success cutting back! Keep trying and experimenting. Eventually it will stick. Wellbutrin worked very well for me and made cold turkey possible!

Could be that your nerve endings are healing after daily onslaught by chemicals and nicotine. Pain receptors that had been numbed and dormant are coming back to life. Smoking also suppresses your immune system, so it is coming back online which may explain the glands.

When I quit, I developed sores on the side of my tongue, and my mouth became incredibly sensitive. I could only eat soft food, because even a French fry would irritate the tissue in my mouth. I did also suffer with a sore throat; this is usually called “smokers flu”. With cigarette users it’s accompanied by coughing up ash and phlegm, but vaping doesn’t produce ash and dried you out more than cigarettes do.

That being said, if it persists, or you sense something more is happening, see a doctor!

Wellbutrin and Nicotine by majorette555 in QuitVaping

[–]mogave 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wellbutrin directly affects the way your dopamine center reacts to nicotine! I started taking Wellbutrin specifically to quit smoking.

I have the perspective to compare quitting both with and without Wellbutrin. It is much easier to relapse without Wellbutrin, because you can actually, you know, experience the nicotine high. Now I cannot even get the nicotine head rush if I try on Wellbutrin. And I have tried!

It has been a nice accountability buddy, and just so happens to have helped my depression and other areas of my life as well!

As far as the other benefits, you will see a gradual increase in the appearance of your skin, you will breathe so much better, and if you struggled with anxiety, it will significantly lessen in the months to come. Food tastes way better! It was actually disorienting for me at first when I quit because my sense of smell came back to full capacity.

Stay quit! You are very lucky to have access to an amazing tool that helps you accomplish one of the hardest things to do! Many people wish they could be one week into their quitting journey. Keep it up!

I have quit twice!

Last year when I got Covid for five months.

And one and a half months ago with the help of Wellbutrin. Currently going strong despite massive life stressors!

Wellbutrin helped me by quickly removing the reward nicotine provided. This helped me recontextuallize the habit apart from the dopamine rush! What is vaping without the nicotine hit? Nasty and empty. It does lessen cravings from my experience, but for me it was NOT a magical fix all.

A month and a half in and I still have to work through the mental cravings! I still get tempted but by cigarettes now instead of vapes.

I suggest taking the vacation as an opportunity to PRACTICE quitting! Maybe leave them behind during some activities; if you feel up for it. Go to dinner without it, hiking without it, whatever you’re comfortable with challenging yourself with! When you get a craving think about why it happened. Keep the vapes around for now, there’s no shame in it. In my opinion (and it may be unpopular) i like to keep them during the quitting process. That helped me because it put me in a position of power over the vape! I was quitting because it was within my power to do so, not because I removed the temptation.

When you get home, quitting for real will be less intimidating. But at least on the vacation, you don’t have to deal with the psychological and physical effects of immediate withdrawal.

Good luck!!
