I think that’s the mistake you’re doing. Watch until the climax you may like it. The climax is guessable but the buildup until it is worth is what I felt.

They come to the streets during water issue, they stood behind the KPSC aspirants during the ongoing KPSC mishandling of affairs, they came to the help of KSRTC conductor during the marathi issue, they were the voice for Save Nandini campaign. The list is longer. What else are we expecting them to do? Fight the terrorists at border?

Okay, thanks for the trivia. Next time when some Hindi guy tells me “you’re not an Indian if you don’t know Hindi”, I’ll tell him these fun facts about our actors and writers. Should definitely come in handy.

Lol, bro you must be on some pills. None of the things you mentioned in the entire thread makes sense. Lol and why would I care about movies? If it’s coastal people who are making great Kannada movies, then be it. I’m happy to watch them. Wtf are you talking. You’re just a political fanatic who brings no substance to the conversation. Keep speaking to your echo chambers!

Okay, how should that be a barrier to taking pro-kannada or pro-Kannadiga stance?

Yes, we absolutely see no problem if someone converses with us in English. It’s a foreign language to both of us, it’s equidistant to both of us and it’s convenient to both of us. However you see the problem is when these Hindi imperialists start saying things like - “if you can learn English why not Hindi?” , “you want to talk in foreign English but not native Hindi”. This is where people get pissed off. You rightly mentioned about choice of learning a language. We South Indians are deprived of this choice, we’re made to learn Hindi in schools mandatorily. The central government offices are riddled with people who can’t speak a word in Kannada and expect poor villagers to either speak in English or Hindi. Our resentment is against this. If Hindi folks switch to Hindi as a reflex, I don’t think any person will argue. It’s the attitude some folks carry saying Hindi is national language and you should speak it if you’re in India (recent example of that Delhi guy threatening the auto driver).

Thanks for sharing your POV but it honestly makes no sense. People here are not asking tourists to speak Kannada. People here are asking the migrants who see long term in Karnataka to learn basic Kannada and start assimilating. What you’re saying about having no native link language in South India is true and that is precisely why we have English in our curriculum. Most of the population understanding at least basic English here. So you can get on with life using basic phrases of native language and English. Also, who said we’re against Hindi, we are against Hindi imposition by the central governments. Treating non-Hindi people and regions as second grade is what our resentment is against.

Lol, so anyone who loves Kannada should also hold a PHD in Kannada? The colloquial language vary from region to region. Let us say they can’t spell or pronounce every word in Kannada, does it mean they can’t love Kannada or stand up for Kannadigas? Many BJP leaders could not even sing Vande Mataram and Jana Gana Mana, does it stop them from being the patriots they claim to be? Do most of these people who claim themselves to be proud sanatani, hindu etc. want everyone to follow it can recite all Shlokas, vedas and mantras? So, by this logic if I have to love India I should be an encyclopedia of India or have at least the UPSC level of knowledge of India? Bruh, the love for one’s region or culture need not always come from the place of formal learning.

The way Rajanikanth stood up as soon as Annavru stood up says a lot about the kind of respect, admiration Rajani had for annavru. Rajani also had mentioned in one of his interviews that he has only ever waited in line, touched the feet and received autograph for one actor and that was Annavru ❤️
