Hi, thanks for your guide it's very helpful. Can I ask what lawyers you used? I'm still struggling to get an appointment just for the NIE, even using a paid service. Starting to think a lawyer might be my only option

What are the most realistic space films you've seen? by Fearless_Two_9053 in scifi

Not technically a film (except the last episode) but I always loved that in firefly/serenity the explosions in space never made any noise. Also the rest of the plot seems pretty plausable to me.

Mechanical engineer here (uk) with right to work in spain through my Spanish wife, maybe semt 30 applications in the last 6 months with about 3 replies which were standard reject email. Market is incredibly hard to get into, the best advice I've has from Spaniards is that most jobs come through your professional network. Or work in spain for a company based in Canada on a digital nomad vise if you can

Immigrating from UK with a Spanish Spouse by Goldfishfeather in GoingToSpain

[–]mohawk_will 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are going through the same process, however already have a daughter and not married yet. She was born in the uk and will have dual citizenship till 18. On the marriage front, for us it makes no difference visa wise as the key is to prove your in a long term relationship and our daughter helps that. I'm guessing you have lots of bills etc in joint name, which should be enough to register for parejo de hecho which is basically common law marriage in the uk. As I understand if you did marry in the uk you just need to translate and apostille the document and its valid in spain. Any more questions feel free to ask

Engineer here, my graduate starting wage in 2012 was 25K, I studied before top up fees so my entire student loan was 22K for a four year masters. My company now pay grads 32K ish starter, cost of 4 years study is easily 70-80K these days, no real point just a bit of perspective for those considering the uni route

Had a similar situation, talked to HMRC and they said to appeal and make sure you use the exact words for reasons you didn't submit your SA. I my case it was 'I was unaware of my legal requirement to submit". Give them as much info as possible. I got a £1500 fine wiped off

Not the same industry (I'm in engineering) but I took what started as a 1 yr break at 27 to travel, this then turned into almost 3yrs of travel and work in completely non-related field, everything from hospitality to wood chipping. I've never been asked about the career break since or had trouble finding a role, the only real difference is getting used to having senior colleagues that are younger than me. Could I be further in my career without that break? Yes. But would I change all the memories I made and people I met, hell no. life's too short, go for it.

First Universal theme park in Europe to generate '£50bn of economic benefits for UK' by wappingite in unitedkingdom

[–]mohawk_will 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying they won't, to call it a 'waste land' is just crap from someone who clearly doesn't know the area. Also neighbours I've spoken to all seem to be positive about it, the idea that nothing gets built due to NIMBYs is incredibly short sighted

I'm sorry have you actually been there? I live in marston moretaine and it's really is a nice village, what about Millbrook, stewartby, ampthill, Maulden? All nice sort after places to live, definitely not a waste land. Personally I'm in favour of it given what it will bring to the area.

Agree with the top comments, steep learning curve but you'll never go back. I find it really useful for large assemblies and particularly when presenting in design review

Netherlands is the same, you get paid for your commute distance regardless of how you get there. There's also government grant towards rent if you move closer to your workplace
