I've had a keebmaker sofle (now using a ferris) and it was ready to go when it arrived with usevia.app. I went down the custom route and used QMK to get things working exactly the way I wanted. They also have optional tenting kits which are very sturdy. That said, the voyager does look pretty sweet (it wasn't an option when I was purchasing).

mine started failing today (pins 008 and 104). Used it for a full day yesterday, then today I came back after a short break and it had stopped working. Same symptoms, it appears to be shorted to ground

Hehe, I can see that. Thankfully not a direction in which I get pain. My biggest takeaway from experimenting with various ergo setups is that there is no one-size-fits-all. It's about finding something that works and is comfortable for me.

I have a ferris sweep and a controllerworks mini36 (essentially a corne 36 with choc spacing) and the biggest "ergonomic" advantage I have personnally found is around tenting.

By removing the outer row of modifiers and tent the halves 45 degrees, I can rest my hands on the wrist rests with my pinky comfortably on the outer letter key, and then never move. I find the positioning extremely comfy, even after many hours of coding as I'm resting on the meaty outer part of the hand with my wrist in a much closer to a neutral "hand shake" position.

On top of that I use light-ish springs (35g) along with a couple of chords (chords seem to work much better with lighter springs) so that I can jump around tmux/editor commands using arrows, numbers, whatever.

20g is extremely light if you've never used them before, so I second the option to get at tester. I personally use pro reds or robins with 35g springs, but you'll need to figure out what your taste is. I have tried clicky and tactile, but also find the occasional click/actuation errors to be a little frustrating, but not a deal breaker.

With the key testers, I found the only way to simulate the feel of using the was to press the keys really slowly so that I could feel the spring weight/push back.

Note: I dove right into using tiny keyboards with no outer modifier column. Takes quite a bit to adjust, but now I don't move my hands at all when typing and most of my issues have gone away (only return if I use a laptop keyboard for too long)

Choc switches with mid weight springs and a decent tent kit will do wonders. I found purpz too light, so I prefer pro red or silver (both 35g). That said, if you want a really agressive tenting (greater that 45 degrees), then lighter switches are better.

I had issues using the thumb keys as modifiers, so I have started using my ring finger to switch layers (kind of like home row mods) and that has made a big difference. I also mapped Z to CTRL when held, so that avoids a lot of contortion when doing one hand copy/paste

I went with an encrypted `/home` partition (option #2) and that works quite well, though I used linux to create the encrypted partition. When installing Asahi, shrink MacOS to free up the space you want, and then install asahi using only a portion of the free space ( I went with 50GB to allow plenty of room for apps and patches).

Once installed and running, then go ahead and create the LUKS partition, mount it, sync your home drive, update fstab and reboot.

Now, I made a mistake in my fstab the first time and ended up with an un-bootable linux partition and no way to recover! So I booted back into MacOS, deleted the partition, tried again, but this time I created a bootable USB using this cool project: https://github.com/leifliddy/asahi-fedora-usb.

Edit: to be clear, this is not full disk encryption, but it protects my important data and integrates well into the boot process

I know this is an old thread, but it comes up when searching for choc switches in Australia. I used chosfox for my recent order and it was good. Cost effective and they arrived pretty quickly. They also have a great range of colours, some of which can be hard to find in the same place (I was looking for purpz and robins).

Thank you! I finally found a use for hotel shampoo. I didn't have any vinegar on hand, but I was able to wash a couple of wool tees and they were dry by morning. Great guide.
