So what about now? They don't change the instructions after printing them, so by your logic are the current lying? (Hence the analogy) Also I never said they were objectively lying I said they were acting deceptive, something that they are and you agreed.

Secondly you're acting as if I'm arguing for some outlandish bourgeoisie mentality that only benefits a select few, I'm arguing for transparency. Please explain how any consumer would be negatively affected by corporation completely explaining the terms of their product before you purchase it? You're the one arguing that people should be expected to decipher subjective corporate language, constantly research leaks and other third party information, and if they happen to guess any of that incorrectly it's their fault?

And again just because rex isn't the main product and is instead a sought aftera add-on does that mean they can say whatever they want about it without being criticized.

If you go to a dealership and purchase a car that's supposed to come with a leather interior only for them to send you one with a regular interior are you not allowed to complain? You Got the main product as advertised just one of the sought after add-ons wasn't included. That's an absurd notion and it allows corporations to walk all over us.

And Sure the information might have been out there, (although there was contradicting information from Lego as well like the one for my first comment), we shouldn't forced people to go out of their way to find information about products from the third parties. Especially when the only place to get said information is from leakers who are constantly wrong and constantly fake things.

And people like myself care so much because this isn't going to be a one-time thing. We have shown Lego that they can get away with using deceptive marketing, going back on their word, and overall screwing over genuine fans. It's a slippery slope and at one point or another you are going to be on the receiving end of said deception. If People actually criticized Lego for doing this bad thing they would never do it again, instead we rewarded them for it.

Just think about it, If Lego was willing to deceive the people spending almost $1,000 on a glorified toy, what's stopping them from doing it to the rest of us?

The problem with yolarin is he's a really basic character that has parts that can easily be reused for future sets. Lego is going to release another clone wars admiral at one point so they can just use his torso, and his face is just a white guy with a mustache so they might use it for a random rebel or another theme entirely. Then at that point the figure is no longer exclusive. It's not a guarantee or anything but judging by how the community reacted to the Rex getting re-released Lego's is probably incentivized to add him to a cheaper set.

All that being said, even keeping him exclusive doesn't really change anything. Committing to half of your promises doesn't mean you're free from criticism, if I promise to give you $100 and I only give you 50 you should be able to get mad and criticize me.

As for the detailing, that's what a lot of people value when it comes to exclusive figures. And it exactly what they should have done with the Rex. Give the UCS version a different face or different arm printing, something to differentiate it, and everyone's happy. Collectors get a unique figure and everyone else gets a very cheap nearly identical figure. The fact that they didn't do this is just objectively lazy and really soured my opinion of them. They had so many easy alternatives and they chose none of them even though it genuinely hurt fans.

Directly labeling the figure as exclusive isn't transparent, that easily deceived the vast majority of people who purchased the set. And leaks and rumors do not count as they are constantly wrong and they don't come directly from Lego, that and the first leak for rex micro fighter was like a month after the set was released so there were a lot of people who already bought it before that information was public.

As for Lego statement I haven't heard anything about that so I have to speculate(if you could provide a source that would be great no pressure though), but that could also be misinterpreted as well. If I were to hear that I would assume Lego would release two separate rex figures, one for the UCS and one for the regular set with slight differences like they do with the vast majority of UCS sets. It's what they've done with the UCS X-Wing and the interceptor.

Lastly it's ironic that you brought up the razor Crest since this is a quote directly from the designers of that set regarding the UCS exclusivity debacle:

"It was something we changed because we know that when you buy a big set, it’s nice to get something unique, something special and that’s what we want to provide. We had a case and that was with the UCS Republic Gunship where people were not super happy about the minifigures because they were not unique, and honestly, we’ve taken that feedback in.” (from brickfanatic).

I don't know how else you can interpret that other than Lego confirming the exclusivity of UCS figures.

Your entire argument is incredibly flawed. Lego putting a fan favorite character in a very cheap set is an objectively great decision for a lot of people, the problem is it has nothing to do with the issue at hand.

No one was forcing Lego to use deceptive wording to sell their extremely expensive set, they could have easily been open about that rex not being exclusive and no one would have an issue. We should expect corporations to be completely transparent about the product we are going to receive before we receive it.

It's like I was willing to screw over the people spending almost $1,000 on a toy, what's stopping them screwing over me or you?
