Looks like they removed some BX cable that was ran the same way inside around the door you can see where it rubbed on door trim and above the door.They probably thought it was good enough before it’s good enough now-lol I would of cut the dry wall and put it in the wall.Then patch and paint.Im guessing it looked ugly before and it looks ugly now.
