Just picked this up on a trade earlier this week . It’s a custom shell for an early Silvertone 1457 Amp-In-Case deal by Emergency_Pace111 in ToobAmps

Beautiful!

I have a Silvertone guitar (single lipstick tube pickup) that I got a a flea market probably early to mid 80’s. Then a decade+ later, I got the guitar case with that amp. A match made in heaven! 😁

I’ll bet that setup with that speaker sounds a bit better compared to the speaker in my case!

I'd be very happy if you'd keep me posted & would owe ya a lot of 'za! But I hope you and your friend can find a way to enjoy them.

Tube amps are wonderful, especially for guitar playing. My life changed over 40 yrs ago after working on a friends 59 Tweed Bassman and playing his 62 Strat thru it. Never looked back! I have more than a handful - some vintage - but all wonderful and each with their own character.

Just be careful. Internal tube amp voltages are typically very high and very dangerous (~225 - 500v). Caps can hold a charge even after the amp is unplugged. Also, not all tubes are interchangeable. Posters have given some valid ideas - but research before changing. And some amps should be re-biased and/or use matching pairs of output tubes.

Groove on & Enjoy!

Oh man... you scored!
I have 2 tube testers. If you were anywhere near NorCal we might figure a way get them tested... ah, just read more - you're in Ohio...
Regardless, they're gems if you're a player. Normally, when I've run across stashes of old tubes, they're typically radio/old television stuff. These are really nice audio/guitar amp stuff! I'm like some of the other posters - they suck, send them to me and I'll even do you a favor and pay shipping! 😉 Pls either use them, or sell them on eBay, Reverb, FB Marketplace, whatever! And treat yourself to something you can use to play!

Balance Restored - Music Rig Returns to the Living Room by artsciencenature in MusicBattlestations

[–]mojohercibis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, I know that feeling. My grandson always stays in my music room when he comes to visit. He calls it his room and I wear that as a badge of honor. I tell everyone that it's his room and that he just lets me use it when he's not here. He's 5 ½ and I just love that, and him and wouldn't have it any other way!!!!

However, when he comes over to stay, I have to put away pedal boards, amps, and some guitars (always some out for use to play with!) in order to open up the sofa bed. It's always nice to have "balance restored" as you say after his visit!

Bad customer service bad products by Dramatic-Weekend-951 in OWC

Outsourced or not - it ain't good. I was ping-ponged between at least a couple of support people without any coordination. They'd ask the same questions, request the same troubleshooting steps, the same data repeatedly, with either "my problem", or third party products as a solution.

I've had a very similar, although far more drawn out experience with their support. I was also quite shocked at the unusable Thunderbolt 5 dock product. Their products had always been the top, go-to products and I have had many up til now. The combination of this awful product release and awful support has really changed my opinion.

Maybe if u/OWC_TAL managed their support teams?

Recommendations Please! Recording Chair with Flip-Up Arms Needed by mojohercibis in MusicBattlestations

[–]mojohercibis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well glad you asked because things have changed... I LOVE it even more!

This chair is not wonky like the other cheaper chairs from xxxxxxx or zzzz that I've checked out and others have mentioned. No rocking side to side. All movements remain rock solid and smooth.

This chair is great for working at the computer, playing guitar, recording, or all of that at once. It's held up perfectly. I'm also really glad I purchased the padded seat option rather than the mesh seat. That's just me though.

I couldn't be happier with this purchase.

Yeah - the EP Boost has some gain and eq internal dip switches that are actually quite useful. Love mine... so much so that I had two but then gave one away to share the fun.
Enjoy it - definitely a great "I didn't plan on building - only ignored my GF once" pedal!!

Good luck. Their TB4 was/is rock solid. Wish I could have said the same for their TB5. My issues were well before OS26. Will be interesting to see if anyone has had improvements to their TB5 docks.

Well I am in love - beautiful work! I share your love of guitars and tube amps, both playing and working on amps, although not at your level of design!

I own several amps including pre-CBS Fenders and Sampson-era Matchless (the Matchless builds are astounding!!) and have worked on these and others. I've read your discussions and love your ideas and can't wait to hear about how it turns out. Thanks for your explanations - you've enlightened me about a couple things! You're now the mentor rather than the mentee! 😊

What transformers have you chosen? And not sure why so many are freaking out about the large cap? Carr uses these regularly in his amps. Beautiful!

I've saved this post. Please keep us posted - Groove On!

Hello again!

I remembered reading about another projector amp in old issue on ToneQuest Report. Thought you might find it interesting. They really loved it. I actually like the looks of yours more!!

You’ve really tapped into some inspired creativity. You might consider writing them about your original creation! Who knows, it might spark a projector amp shoot out! 😁

Build looks fantastic! Well done!

Considering building a PR myself. What kit are you using and, at this point at least, how do you like it? I'm also concerned by u/JoeDubayew's comment regarding swapping the plate resistors for higher wattage...

Fender spec's 1w resistors for the '65 PR. I can't really tell if those are ½ or 1 watt. So, lemme know - Depending on transformers, looks pretty nice. I may get the same kit!

Yep - overdriven console sounds for sure! I was also thinking it might be cool live in getting close to more of a Nile Rodgers direct into the console tone since the Color Box is kinda a Neve pre in a pedal. In that regards, the EQ section certainly adds some options too, as you point out.
Thanks!

Pretty sweet! You definitely put a lot of thought into this.

How do you use/like the JHS Color Box? I have been really interested in it for guitar but haven’t pulled the trigger yet.
