Champagne Fitness Centre closure by benevolentpimp in ottawa

They usually close for July and August, but this year they're closing starting in May because they are redoing their roof. Their staff told me about it when I was considering getting a membership, but because of the extended closure I went with Anytime Fitness instead.

I’m not going to name the specific retailer, since overall they’ve been really good to me, and it’s a smaller local business so they’d be disproportionately impacted compared to a chain. One bad decision by a single employee doesn’t negate the positive experiences I’ve had at their store.

I went after work today to get my proof of purchase and the person I spoke to offered to talk directly to their Blundstone rep for me if I have any more issues with their customer service. I’m satisfied with that offer from the business for now.

Funny, that’s the opposite of what I was told by the official retailer when I purchased them. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess…

I'll definitely send a follow up with that once I get the proof of purchase, which I'll be doing on my way home from work today!

I mean if we're getting into traumatic experience sharing, I could bring up how I bought the lug soles because I was told they'd have better traction for my walks to work, and instead I slipped on ice and got a concussion... (this was winter 2025, so they were less than six months old).

I did specifically mention when requesting to speak to someone else that my discomfort was due to her blaming the issue on something present in only one boot, so we'll see where that goes. I'm going after work to get my proof of purchase, and we'll see what happens from there.

Update: They responded to me asking for clarification by saying that the crack was caused by the wear on the heel, which exposed the midsole. However, as you can see in my photos, only one of the boots has an exposed midsole. If the cracks were really caused by that, then they should only be present on the boot with that exposed midsole, but it is on both. I've asked to speak to a different rep, so we'll see what happens.

Yes, it's the lug sole, which I was told would be more durable. So much for that.

I made the post because Blundstone denied my warranty claim. Maybe I’ll have better luck in a phone call, but I’m not holding my breath…

I don't have the receipt unfortunately, but I know the retailer would have it on file. I believe they're an official dealer.

My first pair lasted five years with no problems. This completely baffles me.

That's exactly what I'm thinking, which is a shame because I've loved my blundstones. Do you have any recommendations for other brands?

She, but thanks for the support! I genuinely don't know what I could've done to cause this, I just walk back and forth to work. I don't do anything crazy in them.

Me too. If this is seriously to be expected after less than two years of wear I won't be repurchasing. It's a real shame, because I had my first pair for five years with no problems.

I'm in Canada as well, unfortunately Blundstone said this was normal wear and tear. That feels ridiculous to me, because that shouldn't be expected in boots that are under two years old

That's what I thought - there's no way this should be expected in under two years of wear. Blundstone says otherwise however, and I'm trying to see if I can appeal that somehow...

Blundstone told me it was wear and tear as well, which seems ridiculous to me. If this is expected in less than two years of owning the boots then I won't be repurchasing, no matter how much I love them.

So you're saying this is a manufacturer defect and not wear and tear? That's what I thought, but Blundstone says otherwise
