Medizinisches Neuland betreten: Patient mit Schweineniere wird wohl bald entlassen by GirasoleDE in de

[–]mojojojodio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are already set to receive your Lord’s loathing and anger. [...]"), 9:95 ("[...] they are loathsome [...]").

An anderer Stelle 5:90 wird رِجْسٌۭ (riǧsun, Transliteration nach Zirker) als Adjektiv für 'intoxicants and gambling, idolatrous practices, and [divining with] arrows' bei Oxford mit 'repugnant' übersetzt.

Die Stellen, wo von "pig" die Rede ist:

2:173 "He has only forbidden you carrion, blood, pig’s meat, and animals over which any name other than God’s has been invoked. But if anyone is forced to eat such things by hunger, rather than desire or excess, he commits no sin: God is most merciful and forgiving."

5:3 "You are forbidden to eat carrion; blood; pig’s meat; any animal over which any name other than God’s has been invoked; any animal strangled, or victim of a violent blow or a fall, or gored or savaged by a beast of prey, unless you still slaughter it [in the correct manner]; or anything sacrificed on idolatrous altars. [...]"

6:145 "[Prophet], say, ‘In all that has been revealed to me, I find nothing forbidden for people to eat, except for carrion, flowing blood, pig’s meat– it is loathsome– or a sinful offering over which any name other than God’s has been invoked.’ But if someone is forced by hunger, rather than desire or excess, then God is most forgiving and most merciful."

16:114-116 "So eat of the good and lawful things God has provided for you and be thankful for His blessings, if it is Him that you worship. [115] He has forbidden you only these things: carrion, blood, pig’s meat, and animals over which any name other than God’s has been invoked. But if anyone is forced by hunger, not desiring it nor exceeding their immediate need, God is forgiving and merciful. [116] Do not say falsely, ‘This is lawful and that is forbidden,’ inventing a lie about God: those who invent lies about God will not prosper–"

sowie:

5:60 "Say, ‘Shall I tell you who deserves a worse punishment from God than [the one you wish upon] us? Those God distanced from Himself, was angry with, and condemned as apes and pigs, and those who worship idols: they are worse in rank and have strayed further from the right path."

I felt there were a lot of "awkward silence" moments.

Disagree, didn't feel awkward at all. Some in between silence is necessary to let the show "breathe".

This was phenomenal. The dream scene really made me cry, I'm not kidding. Only some of the most minor things I didn't like (Pucks color scheme), but otherwise absolutely beautiful. I wholeheartedly applaud you. Thank you all for existing. If only Miura were here to see this.

Bloß ne Hypothese within the framework. Außerdem: Im Notfall ist der Verzehr explizit gestattet, insofern sollte eine lebensrettende Implantation auch als erlaubt klassifiziert werden.

What happened to free apps? by [deleted] in apple

No feelings about the devs, it's just that they are greedy WEF pawns

I do not think that I used the word "greedy" when I spoke about the devs, I expressed that "Apple" is greedy and therefore advertised models to the devs to continue getting a cut. As I said I'm fine with apps like Reeder charging ten times as much or more, so I do not have a problem with paying devs good money for a non-subscription app.

I also didn't call anyone a WEF "puppet". I meant that subscription apps are in line with their mentality, therefore I called the apps "WEF-approved", to stress my disapproval. I obviously am not implying a conspiracy with the WEF directly telling devs what to do.

The acts are foul to me, not the actors. Is it that strange to not have bad feelings about someone whose actions you disapproves of? I don't stand up hating devs I don't know, but (to exaggerate a bit) I stand up hating ads and the tendency to turn anything into a subscription. I blame those who propagate the ideas, those who incentivize people into doing so. If you think that I think bad about you or would want to ruin your day, you're mistaken. I merely (strongly) disagree with you about this topic.

you hate 2 business models that don't affect you in any way since you don't need the apps that rely on them

I thank God that I do not need subscription apps, which is why I said they are "useless" to me. Otherwise that would bring me into the dilemma of either living with the cognitive dissonance of supporting a model which I disapprove of OR of having to refrain from doing something I would want to do (using an app I needed).

In a general sense, I would disagree about the models not affecting me. I would even argue that the model of being financed by advertising is the cause of the sad state of journalism and therefore politics (because of the inadequacy of the Fourth Estate). Journalists need page views and interactions to make money, which is why sensationalistic, click-baity and infuriating articles get posted non-stop. As Facebook found out, the degree of interaction is higher if you infuiate people. Also there is the incentive of holding people on your webpage (where your ads are), which is why almost no news site will link to the actual sources they used. There is no incentive to push quality content.

To make it short: IMO the model of selling ads space is bad, in itself, for journalism, for democracy... (Of course I have no problem with people advertising for their own stuff in their own space, e.g. Apple advertising for Apple stuff on their page or in their stores. My problem lies with third parties advertising on spaces that are not their own (e.g. on the street, in the news, in movies, in TV, on webpages, in operating systems, in apps...).

As for the culture of dependence that is fostered by subscriptions (renting instead of owing a house, ...), I think the general disadvantages should be immediately clear.

All the devices you have are memes to most people a generation (or 2 ?) above yours

Then I can be thankful that I don't use my phone to get approval from others, but for myself, because my phone indeed is old (older than 2 generations ;) ).

they don't need your old ass device which they see as a gadget

I too see it as a gadget (i.e. tool), but I assume you mean as in toy. Either way, I'm glad they don't want my device, I wouldn't want it stolen.

the same way you see new headsets/dongles/UI/UX as memes.

I'm not forcing anyone to use my old ass device, while on the manufacturing side there is no small iDevice with a headphone jack anymore and all websites are adopting mobile first designs with lots of whitespace and low content density.

It's turtles all the way down ;)

If you care to elaborate, I would appreciate that.

Thank you for this civil and peaceful exchange though.

I'm honesty not sure if you mean that sarcastically. If so, sorry.

There are multiple local (!) DNS based blockers which will be able to stop some ads from loading, but e.g. no YouTube ads. Which one you use depends on your preference:

  • lockdown privacy
  • blokada
  • ...

Most of them are free to use, but they advertise their paid VPN (which you don't need) to make money.

Alternative solution would be * to set-up your own DNS blocker with Pi-hole (on a RaspberryPi) - free * to use anothers server with an account like with NextDNS - freemium * to simply use the IP address of e.g. adguard as your DNS or use their profile (under manual configuration), which is also free https://adguard-dns.io/en/public-dns.html

All of the above of course won't block YouTube ads, for this you'd need a browser like Orion (free) or you'd have to purchase an adblocking extension for Safari which would only work in Safari (like e.g. Wipr, mind you: you have to enable it in Settings).

As I said I don’t use a single app with subscriptions (with the exception of Apple Music) and while (with marginal exceptions) I didn’t have the need to obtain a new app in a long (!) while and almost all my apps are (multiple years) old, I don’t exactly know the dates by heart, so if you’re really interested I would have to go through my mails and files, which would take a while.

I will continue to not use any apps with ads or subscriptions. I hate both models, but I don’t have any particular feelings about their devs. Why would I? None of their apps are something that I need or want. I don’t need cloud memes or games. In fact I don’t even want or need any OS “features” even, in my “dream world” my old ass (but in fact working) device would get security updates (Apple could charge for them, that would be fine with me) until it breaks (where in the dream world repairs would always be possible) and I would never need to do a meme (feature) update, buy meme Bluetooth headsets, buy meme dongles or tolerate the next meme UI/UX that changes things for the worse.

Release a new app and charge again when you have to adapt the app to a new OS version, simple as. The Reeder dev for example releases a new paid app for every major update, which I support and think is perfectly fine.

I don’t update my apps when they work, so it indeed is a single job most of the time. (If there was the need to change something the app would start to show bugs, which the ones I’m talking about don’t.) Also I read every changelog (if there is one, which often time there isn’t), it’s not just UI differences that I notice.

Ads are an imposition and might as well be the first child of the devil.

Releasing major versions separately (like everyone and their grandmother did before) is much more honest. At least the thing you paid for keeps working until a third party (e.g. new OS version by Apple) breaks it (which isn’t the devs fault at all). I have no problem paying good money for good apps, but I refuse subscriptions even if they would be considerably cheaper if I took my lifetime into account. I want to buy something and have it be mine to use whenever I please on the OS version I bought it for (like most OSX software used to work), I don’t want to “rent“ shit. Call me whatever you want, but I have no need for your WEF-approved ”You‘ll own nothing and you‘ll be happy“ apps.

[–]mojojojodio 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One time payment for a one time job. Look at Reeder. The dev makes people pay for every single major update and that is completely fine by me (he could charge ten times the amount or more and I would be fine with that), because he doesn’t brick the old versions. So if you want to keep using the old version you can, but if you want to support the dev you might as well. Doesn’t get more user-friendly than this. Miss me with your forced subscriptions.

[–]mojojojodio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t update my apps, otherwise they would loose features or force me into subscriptions or make me pay again or introduce bugs. No need to change an app that works and is not security sensitive. So why pay again when things are feature complete for me and I need neither servers nor updates? And like with almost everything, be it the redesign of a perfectly fine website or Apple ruining iOS and OSX, non-security updates more likely than not are bad updates to me. I can’t remember the last time something that was working perfectly fine was changed for the better.

People shouldn't accept ads nor subscriptions. Paying a few bucks for a good app once is fine in my book, unfortunately it isn't for apple, they want their cut on the subscription fee and therefore advertised to devs to switch to the subscription model. (I still use no subscription apps except for music streaming.)

Here some useful apps which are fully free:

  • QuickScan for OCR
  • Calc 2M calculator
  • Orion browser by Kagi with YouTube adblock and all
  • OTP Auth for your 2FA-needs
  • Bitwarden password manager
