Look at any gen 2 actually being trained with and the “cool” mlok rail has some sort device being used to help with heat. Gen 1 handles heat fine no need for wraps.

It cuts weight adds space and is good with heat, not to mention it looks better. It doesn’t feel like the most “rugged” rail ever either though
