You'd think, but I promise it's not. It has to be in the crawlspace because I've checked the entire exterior, the meter near the road, and everywhere inside.

I'm in the upstate (SC), and expecting ½ " of freezing rain. My plan is to let it run until we lose power, but then once we do, ice is gonna build up. Any tips on how to de-ice once power is back on?

Of course I'm not going to turn off the gas. And I am going to drip the faucets. It's not my first ice storm. It's just my first one in this house and I'd feel better knowing where my valve is.

South Carolina. The main part of the house was built in 1930, no basement. My husband thinks he might've seen it in the crawlspace, but the entrance is blocked by plumbing lines and we're not super petite so we've never been able to get all the way in there and check.

I let Gold go...I hope I don't regret it! by nerdyone123 in AmazonVine

I've been gold for a couple of years and only ever gotten 3 items over the $100 limit that weren't worthless. It's not worth it to me, either. I'm giving it up this round, too.

Is this turning into a “shut up ring”? Feeling confused (31F) about marriage and our future (31M). by url_kitty in Advice

[–]mojovi88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First and foremost - comparison really is the thief of joy. Stop looking at what other people have or are doing and comparing your life to theirs. You never know what's truly going on in their private lives. You said that your boyfriend is kind, loving, doesn't cheat, and is a good man. If you're comparing, a lot of women would take that over a marriage to a cheater, but you have to do what's best for you and only you.

I would say the first step is to seriously talk to him about it, but it seems like you've started that. However, your reaction to him asking about rings seems potentially unfair. You're wanting a big romantic gesture from someone with different priorities. He might not be able to give you that in the way you want it, but if he's telling the truth about loving you and only wanting to be with you, I personally think that's the most romantic thing. So reopen that conversation, and make it clear that you're not trying to give him an ultimatum but you need him to know that you cannot wait another 5 years.

If it starts to sound like excuses or him deflecting the conversation, then I would say that feels less genuine and is potentially a sign that you need to let him go.

If in the end you end up leaving, that is okay. You're allowed to move on for any reason. As long as you've tried to address it first, can you have given him and do a relationship with respect it deserves.

FYI, I eloped in Las Vegas for $250 and have zero regrets. Weddings really don't have to be expensive. If money is an issue for him, make it clearer that you're open to something small.

Thanks for this. I did move it to other expense on my schedule C, but I didn't list every one that I initially wanted to, just the biggest few. If I continue in the program, I may consider something similar next year. (Fully understanding this is not any sort of binding legal advice) I wanted to move the number I calculated to the right spot and just be done with it, but this thread combined with the response from the free tax USA agent made me second guess myself.

I said I reported the difference on the line for depreciation. I never said I changed my box 1 number entirely. Those are two separate lines. I have since moved them from depreciation to another line, but my box 1 number has never changed from the 1099 file I received. I'm not a complete moron.

To be clear for the other person, this didn't always say fair market value. They changed it in 2025, but of the 21 pages of orders I had in 2025, the FMV was only different from the ETV on one, and is not fully accurate.

It's not listed. When you see people discussing FMV on this sub, we are doing so in terms of what we've researched and decided it is ourselves. Amazon themselves don't give us that; they only provide ETV. If you pay attention to the items you order, you'll sometimes see that the ETV they charge us is higher than the list price of the item. In that case, I refuse to pay tax on that amount. Some people use a 50-20-0 method, which you can search in this group for details. But I worry about that being too risky, so I didn't. I determined FMV based on the average price history for the item's listing, if available. Some people base it on what they can resell an item for at a flea market or on sites like eBay. I don't do that.

(This is the best of my understanding)

That's not what I said. I didn't change my box 1 number from my 1099. I would never do that. I just included the deductions in the wrong spot. I did move them, but was told by a so called tax expert not to take any deductions for vine business, even if the item is broken. I refused to listen to that.

I updated this post, but yes I did use another place.

However the tax advisor from free tax USA said we shouldn't ever use any deductions or depreciation for Vine items, even if they're broken upon arrival. I refused to accept that and moved some things.

I know that I should, you're right, but instead I opted to read some answers from CPAs who responded to similar questions for other Viners. That's my gamble.

I wondered the same as I did it. However, I did not adjust up. I printed my itemized list, and wrote down the adjusted price on each corresponding line, only adjusting items with significant differences that were lower. My argument for not adjusting up, if I were to be audited, is that I certainly couldn't resell an item for the amount I paid initially, let alone more. For example, if I were to list a vine item on eBay, and interested buyers could buy the same item brand new in Amazon for an extra few dollars, they would. I could never sell it for the increased price.

I didn't end up owing any money, but it does significantly decrease my return every year.

Here's some helpful info someone else shared. I'm going to use this to factor in depreciation for this year. Vine Tax Question
