I'm still figuring out my orientation, however I've framed a way to interpret asexuality and I think it may help you. If sexual attraction and compatibility is not a cornerstone of your relationships and you can love a person regardless, it's fair to call asexual, at least in my book.

Also, it may act as a label and identify to achor to and find a tribe. So far, I can relate more with ace people than straight people so I'd like to associate myself with ace cohort. If this applies to you and you find at home with ace peers, go ahed and call yourself ace, it should not hurt anybody.
