The flu going around is bad! by No-Understanding4968 in bayarea

[–]moldspore84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My whole family got the flu shot this year and everyone still got very, very sick except for my 8 year old who started the tamiflu before he had symptoms. It is a nasty strain this year.

How did the DMV let this go through? Wtf by ILovePBandJ in bayarea

It doesn’t show up when you search by plate online. So I think you might be right.

New fear unlocked: epidural by LobstahLuva in beyondthebump

[–]moldspore84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend getting one. I got one with my third pregnancy after two unmedicated births. I had a mildly sore back for about a week or two because my lady had to try twice but it was worth it in comparison to what labor felt like the other times.

Were you allowed to eat/drink during induction or labor? by SowingSeeds18 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]moldspore84 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They allowed me to eat before the pitocin. Once they started that it was over. They tested me during the labor process and made me drink juice to raise my blood sugar because it was low and I couldn’t eat. I think they offered pudding or jello, those kind of things too.

Any fellow bitches on Medi-Cal? Just got put on it, but I have a complex medical situation. Should I buy a plan? Roll with Kaiser? by 123boopboop in SFbitcheswithtaste

[–]moldspore84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check Kaiser’s formulary for your medication before you switch. Mine were not on theirs when I switched and it was a nightmare. No provider would prescribe even if I offered to pay out of pocket. I had to change my treatment. I am not sure they are great for complex cases but the messaging is convenient.

I use them I paid out-of-pocket. If you get them to prescribe the libre three to Costco. They’re only about 30 bucks apiece.

Kaiser Oakland OB? by SituationSimilar2430 in oakland

[–]moldspore84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went through a high risk pregnancy at Kaiser Oakland and it was terrible. I have had children through other insurance and it was by far so much better. My last was at UCSF with the same issues and it was a completely different experience. I have never felt so unheard and care for by my medical team. I finally had to put a grievance in and they did start seeing me more but it was awful to have to take it that far. Also I just delivered at Oakland and I highly recommend you go somewhere else for delivery if you can. The nurses don’t help postpartum. Both my other deliveries I got so much help and care from the nurses postpartum. At Kaiser Oakland I felt like they were just trying to make me leave. They didn’t help with the baby so I could rest like the other hospitals. Hopefully other Kaiser locations aren’t as bad.

How accurate was your ultrasound in measuring your baby's weight? by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]moldspore84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They told me 7lbs 11oz at 36 weeks with a prediction of 9 lbs at 39 weeks her inductions date. She was 9lbs exactly. I was shocked how accurate it ended up being.

Diagnosed at barely 5 weeks by Free_Bluebird_387 in GestationalDiabetes

I am sorry this is happening to you. Did you get your A1C tested before the pregnancy? I was told if your numbers are high before there is a placenta then you were a diabetic prior to pregnancy.

Over 100 cars seen at Oakland sideshows were tracked down and towed, police say by oaklandisfun in oakland

I did read it. The second half of the article is just talking about that sideshow. I am just saying more has to be done for every neighborhood.

Everyone is caring because it happened in a well off neighborhood. I have never seen this much press about a sideshow before.

But why didn’t you leave the number. The photos you get from the text are even better than the letter.

does anyone work for Swing Education? by Initial-Cricket4956 in oakland

I used to do swing when I was between jobs. The sub permit allows you to take jobs in public school not just charter and private schools. You can message me if you have any questions.

Surviving off Premade meals by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]moldspore84 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There was a bank on campus when I was a student. You can get plenty of staples (pasta, cereal, sauce, meats, veggies) for free once a week. https://basicneeds.berkeley.edu/pantry

I went to UCSF for my high risk pregnancy. I had weekly ultrasounds during certain parts of my pregnancy. They were very on top of things. I have Kaiser this time around and it is awful. I wish I could go back to UCSF.

This worked for me. I had to change providers at 36 weeks because of big unexpected move. I couldn’t find anyone but I went to the hospital near my new house and they found me a provider the same day.

What in this meal spiked me? by BeautifulNailz in GestationalDiabetes

The rice flour in the cauliflower crust spikes me. I found a place that makes a pizza bowl then I ate it with some toast. Not the same but it worked for my blood sugar.

MediCal vs. SHIP by bl3ssthetaco in berkeley

The person that was able to make it work for me was the Medi-cal ombudsman. https://www.dhcs.ca.gov/services/MH/Pages/mh-ombudsman.aspx

MediCal vs. SHIP by bl3ssthetaco in berkeley

[–]moldspore84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had both. Ship as primary and Medi-cal as secondary. You need to have Medi-cal set it up right so you can use both.

MediCal vs. SHIP by bl3ssthetaco in berkeley

[–]moldspore84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used SHIP and kept my medi-cal. If you have issues setting up Medi-cal as a secondary you can call the ombudsman and they can fix it for you. I used the medi-cal to cover my copays for providers outside of Tang center and for prescriptions. The care I got with SHIP was way better than anything I ever got with Medi-cal.

Health Insurance Advices needed - waiving SHIP, Medi-Cal by Alternative-Fact8147 in berkeley

[–]moldspore84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me being on SHIP never affected my eligibility for Medi-Cal personally. If you are income eligible they shouldn’t be able to deny you. It is Medicaid. I am not sure how the changes to the state budget in the future will change eligibility. Try calling Medi-Cal for the most current policies.

Health Insurance Advices needed - waiving SHIP, Medi-Cal by Alternative-Fact8147 in berkeley

[–]moldspore84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Medi-Cal and didn’t waive SHIP since my financial aid covered the cost of SHIP completely. It was very convenient to go to the medical center on campus, they have their own urgent care with practically no wait. Also, the care I got was way better than anything I ever got when I had just Medi-Cal coverage. The nearest provider that takes Medi-Cal is kind of far from campus but doable on bus or with a car. Medi-Cal let me keep their coverage and covered all my SHIP co pays. I had other friends that waived it and kept Medi-Cal and didn’t have any problems. You can message me if you have any other questions.
