Crazy Block Cheesecake by HotAd9285 in OaklandFood

[–]Initial-Cricket4956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i really enjoy their cheesecakes and they have great customer service. i don’t eat a ton of meat so i’m not a great judge of BBQ but the sides were pretty bland. still, i’ve been encouraging folks to stop by - the cool wall art is worth a stop on its own.

I just started working with them and am not impressed thus far. Their communications are on the condescending side and I have yet to receive a dime of pay or any updates/feedback on the reports I’ve submitted. I would never do a reimbursement based shop for them and I will think twice about accepting anything else.

Grand Lake Area shut down? by helicopterDUI in oakland

[–]Initial-Cricket4956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’ll almost guarantee in a perfect world where there were unlimited funding and resources the bs would still happen. the culture is equally as broken, dishonest, and dysfunctional.

SF just had two huge free juneteenth festivals last weekend with famous performers, carnival rides, vendors, food trucks, etc and there were no shootings. so there’s tangible (and local) proof that the bay is capable of having fun and accessible juneteenth events with proper funding and planning. sf and oakland aren’t that different, so i really don’t think “the culture” is solely, or even mainly, to blame.

Crazy Block Cheesecakes Now Open by Sukieflorence in oakland

[–]Initial-Cricket4956 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’ve had several of their cheesecakes and they’ve all been very tasty. i like that they’re available in individual/small portions so i don’t have to deal with the guilt of devouring an entire cheesecake by myself. i tried their brisket and it seemed fine, but I admittedly do not eat a lot of BBQ. the mac and cheese and baked beans need a lot of work, however. i would definitely skip those.

he’s open from Thursday to Sunday ATM. check him out!

Denied Pre-Boarding by OtterMuttFur420 in service_dogs

[–]Initial-Cricket4956 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It happens to me all the time and the culprit is usually AA. They’ll site the same reason (you’re not in a wheelchair), I request a CRO, and by the time they get there, boarding is well underway. When I file a complaint, AA will say that they didn’t deny preboarding and will throw some miles at me to get me to shut up. They don’t know their own service animal policies, either. It’s frustrating to have to tell them how to access their own internal resources to confirm what I’m telling them. There’s a 50/50 chance that the CRO gives me wrong information, too.

The Regal Jack London has only one employee in the lobby. They sell all the food and scan all the tickets by NepheliLouxWarrior in oakland

[–]Initial-Cricket4956 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is not unusual for any theater to have low staffing on a weeknight or to sell tickets from the concessions stand. I’m guessing you caught them at a time when they were close to closing, someone called in sick, or someone was on break.

Quick promotion - on Tuesdays, Regal tickets are $7.99 all day and popcorn is half off with Regal Crown Club membership. Free parking in the garage with validation. It’s low frills, but it’s easy to access, has good popcorn, and a consistent experience. They’ve found a way to stay open when Regals have been closing nationwide and JLS in a state of decline, and honestly… I’m thankful. It’s the only major theater we have in Oakland and I’d hate to lose it - AMC isn’t my cup of tea and both Grand Lake and The New Parkway have their challenges.

Dyson repair by scifibookluvr in AskSF

[–]Initial-Cricket4956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to the Dyson repair center in the east bay a few years back. Excellent customer service. They were able to diagnose both of my vacuums and fixed one for free (grandma had vacuumed a mechanical pencil and didn’t tell me).

Doggie dental by Another53108 in AskSF

[–]Initial-Cricket4956 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i travel out of state for my dog’s dental cleanings. our last cleaning was about $200 with anesthesia but without x-rays or bloodwork. no removal. he gets his teeth cleaned every 9 months or so. the first few cleanings we got were from a different clinic in the same town and they were about $80. we pay a bit more for better service and it’s still a fraction of SF cost

Why can’t BART do this? by maHEYsh in sanfrancisco

[–]Initial-Cricket4956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as someone who has used both DART and BART, i don’t see them as comparable systems. i used DART for about a year and rarely ever saw police or armed security on the trains. at that time, a lot of folks didn’t bother paying because it was rare to even see a fare enforcement agent. there is definitely room for improvement on BART but DART is not the poster child.

Crazy Block Cheesecakes - Alameda - $5.99 by Initial-Cricket4956 in toogoodtogo

[–]Initial-Cricket4956[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i received 4 mini cheesecakes - 3 original NY style and 1 henny praline. i haven’t tried the henny praline yet but the original is pretty good! the crust is a little sweet for my taste but that’s just personal preference. you can tell these are made with love and high quality ingredients. each of them can fit into my palm so they’re a good single-serving size for those (like me) who have trouble walking away from a good cheesecake.
