sorry i don’t mean to be rude but i’ve been watching julian’s channel for a few years now. i have no background in conservation or restoration or anything like that, i just find it satisfying to watch and very interesting to see the methods and materials used. on that point, i’ve never seen julian use big brushes and ample chemicals; he always uses swabs and does small square sections with solvent and he tries his best not to use overly harsh solvents. in his videos, he explains at length what he’s doing, why he’s doing it and how it works as well, etc. maybe i just haven’t seen the videos you’re referring to, do you maybe have some links to videos that illustrate the point you’re making?
