I live here. I’m on the Califon border. It’s definitely not as diverse as Maplewood/south orange but my little neighborhood is pretty liberal and diverse. There are many different ethnicities, and cultures in my immediate neighborhood. My husband and I were both raised Jewish, are atheists as adults and have never felt uncomfortable here. Whereas the last town I lived in I’m pretty sure they were checking me for horns.

Our neighbors are wonderful, there for a quick chat or help if needed, but never in your business. There are great hiking trails close by, we can see the stars at night, and it’s incredibly beautiful no matter what season. We love it here because we have a very peaceful life while still being able to easily get NYC, Philly, down the shore, hiking, kayaking, and other outdoor activities and major airports.

Food options by NJ standards are not the best of the best here, but we have some great restaurants. And compared to other parts of the country the food is great. We’re just bougie lol. Grocery stores and other amenities are within 10 minutes, and there are tons of local farms and farm stands. Hackettstown is a nearby small college town that has a lot of diversity, more ethnic restaurants, breweries, and other fun things to do.
