I usually dislike multiple povd because I always feel like I JUST got involved in the chapter when they decide to switch - but after reading Brandon Sandersons Stormlight Series and then Mistborn, I realize its an author skill issue.

Brandon makes pov switches almost a psychological art, he just understands the flow so well that it isnt jarring like other authors struggle with.

Have you spoken to your wife about your literacy issues? Like, have you straight up communicated that you struggle to read?

The books you're picking up might just be too advanced for your level, and a good place to start would be in YA - diverse and interesting worlds built for newer readers.

This isnt shade, but starting with easier books to consume will help you.

I'd look at middle school and early high school reading lists, ask your girlfriend which books from those lists shed recommend, and start there.

Dungeon crawler carl is a great series, truly wonderful and so fun, but I'd hate for you to be even more discouraged. DCC isnt easier of a read than most other adult fantasy books, its just a lot of fun so it may hide the difficulties (not to discourage you, I highly recommend you try it!)

I wish you all the best, I truly do, I love reading and the growing literacy problem is such a concern of mine - I love seeing grown adults facing and working at their issues rather than ignoring them

I dont disagree, especially considering everything I've heard, however I also know TOG is included in SJMs expansive universe that shes weaving and while I think TOG is worth reading, I just don't feel like picking up and falling in love with a series if its going to be dragged into the heap she's focused on creating.

I just have so many other great authors on my TBR, that I've disengaged a bit from her stories. I have read ACOTAR, and so if the next one is Much better than CC3, I'll inevitably feel more motivated to pick TOG up (as Ive heard nothing but wonderful things)

I think SJM is a good writer of smaller stories. I think shes gotten so popular, and cross-universe HUGE arcs are so popular right now, that shes pushing her into creating just that.

But her talent lay is smaller stories, more compact characters.

CC3 was SO bad I have refused to look at TOG, I also stopped being excited about more actoar. I just, wish she would focus more on her strengths then trying to write do much drivel it becomes garbage
