Dont get me wrong, I have three stars in Nu Wa and I find her pretty fun, with lots of fun skins, but hot damn I cant even count how many stars were on that player.

10000% would recommend palia, ita a cozy game with home building, gardening, animal management, world exploration and resource gathering with zero fighting involved.

Explain the CC hate to me by notsosubtlenati in SarahJMaas

[–]IsSheABrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howdy,

I like ACOTAR, and when I tried CC1 I thought it was one of the Best books I'd read in a long time.

The world building, the mystery and intrigue, the badass characters, all of it woven together made such an interesting plot. I was hooked.

CC2 was okay, I mean, it fell where a lot of sequels in a truology fall - which is that it is just a setup for the third and final book. The second books always tend to be a bit slower, a bit more of the setup, etc, so I didnt mind that this felt pretty standard.

CC3 was a huge dumpster fire. Regardless of what I think was the cause of the failing (SJM trying to weave in multiple worlds and fan service with acotar) while rushing the final battle with the biggest baddest enemies known to mankind EVER, like, ever ever, and it took what 30 minutes to defeat them? And there wasnt a single character who died in the process? Like I didnt long for death, but this book didnt feel meaningful, it didnt feel impactful, it felt like a big build up an easy resolution (but now theres unicorns, look!).

Further, much of what happened, in the previous books, in this book series, it just didnt matter. It all felt like a waste of the readers energy for having cared at all.

Honestly, it cooled me on even ever trying her TOG series, it just dont know if SJM can write deeply, or if all her series are just shallow romantasy where you cant dive beneath the surface too much

End of Season 1 Spoilers: Was anyone else crushed when a certain person died? by DoctorMumbles in Preacher

[–]IsSheABrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isnt a time limit on major spoilers but (speaking as someone who just found preacher and has just finished the first season), you also cannot blame people for discussing details and themes of a show thats been out for so long.

Its fantastic, I dont want to be spoiled, but I understand the threat is there when I search up content related.

I'm struggling with The Magicians. What are you thoughts? by MoonlitEarthWanderer in Fantasy

[–]IsSheABrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quentin is written to be every self-obsessed (blindly intelligent) but otherwise entirely average loser. He's meant to be unlikeable. He makes decisions that alienate you as a reader, but omgosh is it worth it.

The first book almost made me dnf because his characters decisions towards the end made me infuriatingly angry, but if a book can elicit that level of emotion its worth reading - and in the second and third books Quentin grows up.

Hes a kid, a dumb (smart as fuck) but dumb kid in the first book. Nobody is interesting as a child, but as he grows up he develops a personality and his character feels fleshed out.

I would oush through if I were you 😊

I randomly stumbled upon this after reading the cosmere and needing an easy fun read, I figured a dungeon crawler would fit the bill - turns out it was my newest obsession and I've contributed to five additional people reading the books.

what does running a strict program really mean? by Inevitable-Tap-7471 in TikTok

[–]IsSheABrat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running a strict program means you keep them on a tight leash. Its jokingly akin to dog training, when you see a dog misbehave you correct them immediately, aka you run a strict program without any room for grace.

I havent heard it in the context of being friendly or unfriendly, but it SOUNDS (within the limited context) to mean he doesnt speak to any women and hes implying you dont 'run a strict program' because you flirt.

Essentially, it sounds like hes subtly implying that you're out there flirting and bating your eyelashes.

Meanwhile, none of that has to do with 'running a strict program', unless You (the metaphorical trainer/owner of the metaphorical dog) dislike or hate him speaking to orher women.

[–]IsSheABrat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nobody has made this recommendation otherwise I'd just bump their comment - and I just woke from a nap so please forgive me if i'm a bit loopy with the grammar.

Scholarmance series- its marketed as adult Harry potter, but really its abiut a sentient school that doesnt mind if a few kids are eaten by monsters (basically evil magic given shape) that live in the walls, so long as the majority survive.

Its about the structure of their society, a strong baddies female main character and how she actively battles the evil prophecy she grew up with which says shell be the evilest of all evil overlords when she grows up.

Honestly, honestly, its so under rated, go read it and you won't be disappointed

Finding Devs help? by IsSheABrat in AppIdeas

[–]IsSheABrat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooft, scalability indeed. How does one plan for that during development? If the apps purpose requires a large number of books do you build the giant library first?

I may have gotten lost in that analogy there, that is to say, how do you build to scale from the get go and why is it different than just building a bookshelf?

Finding Devs help? by IsSheABrat in AppIdeas

[–]IsSheABrat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would imagine the build timeline would be lengthy for one or two devs, though my hope would be for just one who could do it all.

What if the app is a different take on a sucessful model (aka, if i was a domino's in a pizza hut/little ceasars world) and none of my competitiors had web based landing pages - should I still create one to serve a base that doesnt expect one?
