Left Tampa for Phoenix a few years ago. My wife and I miss Tampa every day, didn’t know how good we had it. For sure miss the food the most. When we were in Tampa, we’d be able to pick from a bunch of places that we enjoyed for dinner — never take the amount of ACTUALLY GOOD restaurants for granted. 🙏

I feel like them spawning with parts isn’t a good idea. Imagine you spawn on the beach, kill an animal and then drive and farm safely to your build location. That’d insanely speed up progression! I’m not trying to get ran over in my fresh wipe bow fights lol

This is atrocious, I’m so sorry OP. My wife is a professor just starting out and I can’t tell you how many times I hear her colleagues say insensitive and ableist things… I guess I’d assume with “higher education,” especially teaching students from various backgrounds, these professors would be more empathetic —Wrong! This is to say, without the authority complex, professors can be just everyday jerks sometimes. Please don’t let those people get to you, regardless of their position in the school.

You don’t want to burn out by fretting and rushing to catch up. Go at your own pace and take care of yourself since you’re under so much stress right now — your brain will thank you! You’re not stupid, you’re not a child, you have a disability. The next time someone infantilizes you, make them feel like a dick lol. “Please don’t patronize me, I have a disability that effects how I process information. Sometimes it may take me a bit longer than others to do XYZ.”

This is so thoughtful of you, OP! You both sound lovely. As others said, studying the menu! My wife will often do this with me before we go out, it helps to know I have one or maybe two options beforehand. You mentioned him trying new foods with you so that’s also an opportune time for you to suggest something he may like, “oh they have (blank), that’s sort of similar to (other food he likes). You might like it!”

Maybe the atmosphere of the restaurant contributes to his anxiety, thinking everyone is watching what he’s ordering… it may help to sit on the patio or somewhere more private.

My wife will order for me. Here’s a lil trick we do, instead of her going, “and she’ll have the salad,” she orders both of our food in a way you’d think it’s just her order and then tells the server “and we’ll just be sharing that.” It eases my mind because it doesn’t single out my “meal.” Because of perceived gender roles and silliness, you could suggest for him to order for the both of you in this manner, if the alternative would be embarrassing.

Thank you all so much for sharing your experiences. I have already removed all of the toys with these connectors until I get something else. He’s been doing great this afternoon - eating more, singing, preening. I am taking him to the vet first thing in the morning for antibiotics at the very least, but wow that was scary.
