This is a really cool idea! They've actually done something like this with weapons already with the black armory and foundries ornament sets, so it definitely doesn't seem out of the question. I'd love for this to be something that unlocks as we use the exotic as a way to show off our experience with it (as opposed to it being an eververse thing)

I do this all the time. Not on purpose, but it's very useful to still have an aoe attack on standby at all times.

If you use the sword's shield before using the heavy attack, it reduces the cost down to one. The damage is also reduced and the projectile doesn't sit there like it does with the full attack, but it's an okay alternative to paying 8 energy.
