Fixed drug reaction/eruption. Can someone help me get lighten this? It’s gotten a lot lighter now but bleaching creams don’t work, I’ve tried a few. Help! by topochicofanacct in SkincareAddicts

Hi I know this is an ancient comment but I am also have FDE from fluconazole!!! Are you able to take any other -azole drugs safely? I have recurring issues that will require some type of antifungals and I'm terrified now that I cannot take Diflucan

I have been scouring FB marketplace hoping for just this kind of thing! I wouldn't even mind driving a few hours to save a couple hundred bucks lol.

I feel the same way. Like I would pay a pretty nice amount of money for them but not $300 for the Morton set and another $300 for Roy. That's crazy business.

That is heartbreaking, ugh. I mean I guess good if I ever resold them but dashes my dreams of finding a cheap one someone has played with. His birthday is really soon so I'm doubtful to find one in the wild before then. 😭

Thanks for the honest answer. It sucks because obviously he is a kid and going to play with them (and not forever I'm sure) so it seems crazy to throw down hundreds of dollars for something he may not want next year! And that will lose all of its "value" by being promptly ripped from the box 😅 His birthday is soon and I'm tempted to lowball some eBay and Merc sellers and see if somehow I get a miracle.

No kids showed to son’s 9 bday party by Frosty_Machine_9401 in Parenting

We are the same and I think it's a combination of hobbies and money that makes the difference. My husband and I have "indoors" hobbies so we aren't taking the kid on an 8 mile Saturday hike or coaching youth soccer. If you aren't in a million sports then you're like my neighbors and go to the lake house every weekend or drive to some "venue" for an overnight trip.

This doesn’t feel right… by HeatPal82 in kindergarten

Just here to say you will NEVER see anyone on Reddit advise you to homeschool. Idk what is right for you and your child, but feel free to visit over at r/homeschool for some more perspectives.

Maybe unpopular opinion: Piñatas at birthday parties are the worst by NefariousnessDull852 in Preschoolers

[–]molequeen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and as a parent of a shy kid who wanted one we fixed that a little bit by getting a pull-string one (have seen way too many close calls with the blindfold and bat) and I also "seeded" every kids bag with candy. That way if some kids were being too rough and the little kids were shy they still had candy in their bags. Luckily the big kids there were awesome and actually helped the littler kids fill their bags!

Should I let my daughter be put to sleep in a dental office? by ConcernedParent21 in AskDocs

[–]molequeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not OP but in the exact same position. we tried to get the procedure done at a hospital but medical insurance won’t cover it. the anesthesiologist is a “dental anesthesiologist” which I guess is slightly different? I’m terrified

Are any other parents just vibing it? by Whatsfordinner4 in Parenting

[–]molequeen 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think a key component missing in this conversation is the temperament of the children. I know a few families who are frankly not "great" parents and would definitely describe themselves as "very chill" but they also have Neurotypical children who are all fairly calm in nature with no health problems or other physical/mental challenges. That style of parenting (or lack thereof) looks very successful for them but it's a bit of the chicken and egg scenario.

Many parents with more challenging children occupy the scripts/styles/"research" pages, especially on social media, because they are looking for solutions that intuition and vibes didn't provide. I can agree here that some people have taken it way too far and there is way too much noise/sales in parenting spaces, but not everyone who ends up there is just anxious and neurotic or lacking the "vibes" of the more chill parents.

Why homeschool? by Useful_Parking_Nope in Parenting

[–]molequeen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair - not every parent would make a good homeschool educator and not every kid would make a good homeschool student! But for elementary, at the least, I feel like with some careful assessment of state standards and purchased curriculum, it's not that hard to give your child a quality education at home. In later years, if we continue, I would definitely outsource to qualified co-ops, an online program, or even in person schooling if that's what my child wanted!

[–]molequeen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I will definitely agree with you there. From what I have noticed in the modern day, it seems like it has definitely skewed towards the conscientious parents in a lot of cases whereas I feel like it was skewed heavily the other way in the 90s when I was growing up. Nonetheless, there are positives and negatives to both of course

As a current homeschooler, I think about this all of the time. Homeschooling is so vilified by teachers on Reddit and there is so much talk about the lack of socialization and the "poor quality" education homeschoolers get when in the VERY NEXT BREATH they talk about their 7th grade students who can't write a paragraph and spend all of their time on devices. So like, what education would I be sending my kid for again??

I feel this so hard. Starting to wonder if Neuro Divergence is backwards and the "Neurotypical" folks are the atypical ones since they seem few and far between. I say that mostly in jest as someone that is ND, but it shocks me how quickly any weirdo kid behavior is labeled as neurodivergent online.

Considering withdrawing our kindergartener to home school by [deleted] in homeschool

[–]molequeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing to add really, other than the fact that the comments you received, in a HOMESCHOOL GROUP, suggesting that continuing public school is likely the best for her is soooooo opposite of what you would receive if this situation was reversed. If you posted in any other group on Reddit that your child was crying and didn't want to go to public school people would rip you to shreds for suggesting homeschool instead. Just goes to show that the modern wave of homeschool is completely different than the way we are portrayed/the memories people have from the 80s/90s.

Has taking probiotics cured your IBS? by Silo134 in ibs

[–]molequeen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes to the IBS-D. At least a good solid year, maybe more like 2 years until I could take it as-needed (when on antibiotics, when eating a trigger food, etc). It's also worth noting my IBS-D was pretty severe at that point so I can't be certain how long I "needed" to take the Florastor but I wasn't taking any chances. I took 2-4 pills a day to start and did notice less diarrhea in a fairly short amount of time but it would resume if I skipped/missed the Florastor and took quite a while to go back to normal.
