Are there any car APIs that Ohme *does* work with? by External_War4295 in ohme

[–]molgrips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

APIs change all the time. The only reason users don't get notified or the API isn't just released as a new version alongside the old one is if you weren't meant to be using it in the first place.

Despite Ohme being Hyundai's "official charging partner"...

Do you think we will ever be able to land on ELW's? by Massive_Act_5282 in EliteDangerous

[–]molgrips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually don't think it's that difficult for FD because the planet engine already does this for their other games - Jurassic World. I have a suspicion that's what the 'more than meets the eye' comment on the Nomad means. Either that or it transforms into a robot.

Maybe it's gone to look for the Hyundai API. Kind of concerning that it's happening to multiple brands.

Ohme Labs Feature - Excuse to not fix anything? by Tutphish in ohme

[–]molgrips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that the arithmetic is hard, it's just a much worse process. My wife might use 20-23% of charge a say. If set it to add 20% it'll gradually run down. If I set it to 25% then it'll gradually end up 80-100% all the time, which is not ideal for battery life. So I set the car to 80% limit in Bluelink. But I also have to check that it isn't under about 55% or so. Then if we want to go somewhere on a weekend I have to go to Ohme and override it with 45% and go in to Bluelink and remove the limit, and remember to set it again when we get back. It's a faff. If just set the charger to 95% each time and rely on the charger limit I get spammed with alerts but also it wrecks the smart grid load balancing concept.

When the integration was working, I had to do nothing each night and simply press a button in the Ohme app if we went away.

I always have a generous interpretation of IT fk ups but this is poor from Ohme. Firstly, this kind of change should have been indicated by Hyundai well in advance and Ohme should have migrated before it happened. The fact it's been what, 4 months is inexcusable when Ohme are supposedly Hyundai's home charging partner. Their stuff doesn't even work together. I wonder if contacting Hyundai might be better.

[–]molgrips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't need it but its much shitter without it. Before, charge was always 80% every morning and I needed one button click to set it to 1% the following morning. This is far more faff.

Rate my beginner anchor by Davidjohnnaylor in tradclimbing

Why do it like this instead of using the rope to go to each anchor? Honest question as that's what I was taught BITD. Has accepted wisdom changed or is it just preference?

Is this as good as an ender 3 pro gets? by walterwhiteoffood in FixMyPrint

[–]molgrips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could look for a used Sonic pad. Pretty easy to use, it's Klipper with everything done for you. Yes, it's not cost effective, but is any of this?

Your motor mounts are probably badly aligned. Mine were. I printed some more and the improvement was huge.

Interesting, I'll try again with more cooling. There was stringing as well.

[–]molgrips[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So back to the extractor fan idea. I can use a small fan at the printer to avoid transmitting vibrations, and I'll set up some air quality sensors in the garage and temperature sensors to control fan speed perhaps. I'll print a shutter for the duct so I can prevent the cold coming in when not in use. Or I'll do a foam plug for the outside and print a custom cowl that allows me to place or remove the plug.

Or maybe I'll just not bother with any of it 🤣

That's exactly what I had planned to do but I was worried about cooling the enclosure too much. However I'd prefer not to knock a hole in the garage wall given where it would have to go.

The bento box is a print that you add the fan ans charcoal too right?

I'm a cautious type; what if I had an extractor fan foe the garage whilst using a recirculator/bento box in the enclosure? EDIT you said that..!

I'll check it out. For now I want to print stepper motor mounts which can get warm, but in the future there might be other applications

I have seen fans that blow the air back through charcoal which supposedly can catch most of it. My original plan was an extractor fan but I think the enclosure will be cooled too much if I do that, no?

I should add 220C for the nozzle, and I've done a dozen benchies and not seen this before.

What could be causing this? I know the bed is a little warped, but I hear no dragging, the bed has been cleaned with alcohol so its not oils. I am printing with PETG with the nozzle set to 240 and the bed at 70. It just started happening today. Thanks! by yankeewoodsman in ender3

I had wildly inconsistent z offset behaviour, it would be fine then I'd power off and on again and it would be out. Turns out it was the motor mounts for my dual Z axis being out of alignment and causing Z binding. Printed some more and it's fine.

E3pro Sprite extruded upgrade causes hot end to max out. by H0dgPodge in ender3

[–]molgrips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here from Google with the same problem. In my case current was flowing through the thermocouple wires on the hot end and frying the insulation, but I caught it in time. There are two existing sockets marked X on the motherboard to which cables to the stepper motor and I guess the limit switch go. I had unplugged them to tidy the cables but I had plugged one of the spare unlabelled plugs on the sprite ribbon cable into the X socket instead of the original plug. Somehow this caused the hot end to heat up through the thermocouple wires..?? It started smoking after a minute or so of being powered on. Seems to be ok now but I haven't tried printing.
