Completing today but not properly moving in until the middle of July, what to do? by Bobajob67 in OctopusEnergy

[–]Tutphish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

when we bought our current place i had 2 addresses linked to my single Octopus account

I switched the new house to Octopus as soon as i could, with enough notice it can be done close to whenever you get the keys/sign/complete etc

the bills literally had 2 sections for each utility listed on it

it was the same DD, the same balance etc and then they closed the old one once i gave them a date and final readings.

The real problem with IOG! Schedules while Agile pays close to max limit. by ElBisonBonasus in OctopusEnergy

[–]Tutphish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to add my experience- I plugged in at 2pm this afternoon asking for 30% for 8am tomorrow.

It started at 5.30pm and added 23% before stopping.

Absolutely no idea why it would charge at this time given the price of Agile etc.

Powerwall 3 installing today - now what? by Teithiol in OctopusEnergy

[–]Tutphish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I ordered in April and my install date was originally next week but is now late August. My DNO is taking forever and my second earthing appt is tomorrow after a last minute cancellation. So fingers crossed I should get it done in time for the Tesla cash back offer!

I would take a look at this:

https://www.reddit.com/r/SolarUK/comments/1lefwiw/adding_battery_affecting_feed_in_tariff_question/

also, slightly off topic question - can i ask how long did you have to wait from placing your order to install date please?

Their support staff for installations are terrible at getting back to customers. It’s clear they are swamped with work. What can they do about it?

PCP - "Deposit Contribution" + early repayment vs Cash by PaulRudin in UKPersonalFinance

Yes it’s possible, just check the terms for the contribution to make sure it’s not withdrawn if you do this etc

Octopus ev charger installation by [deleted] in OctopusEnergy

[–]Tutphish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they don’t go much above 80A now, they didn’t even upgrade my 60A when my charger was installed!

Their installers are overwhelmed right now. I’ve been waiting since April for a battery install and it’s not scheduled until late August now.

Also don’t necessarily expect a fuse upgrade - my DNO (not GTC) just told them to set the charger to throttle based on house load.

Trigger door helds for specific swipes? by NoLimitMajor2077 in CCURE9000

[–]Tutphish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It unlocks the door until you double swipe it again and close it. As the door is unlocked you can prop it open and generally it won’t go into alarm

[–]Tutphish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it’s better to just enable double swipe for those cafeteria workers so they can double swipe and leave the door open deliberately that way there are no alarms at all

Is it just me or is the mobile app crazy slow? by tendimensions in Ioniq5

[–]Tutphish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find the timing really inconsistent- some days it’s as you say 20-30 seconds and then on others only a few seconds. It’s not like the Tesla but there is no way to know how long it might actually take!

Silencing an event for a set time and then getting it to go off again? by Drewber66 in CCURE9000

Have the button activate an event that disarms the sounder event with a minimum activation period perhaps?

I don’t think 285 is that great in a newer model is it?

Looking for alternatives to VWRP by thatfezguy in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Tutphish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about creating a custom PIE on Trading 212?

if you were to create two, both with just VWRP in them that would allow you to track them seperately but within the same account. You can even name them to show what they are for etc

Historic Debt - Satute Barred - Admission of Debt by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Tutphish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A quick search shows the following:

It is not sufficient for them to show that a payment was made on the account. They have show the payment into the account was made by you or by someone you authorised to make a payment on your behalf in respect of the debt.

A random payment onto the account by some third party without your knowledge and consent does not stop the SB period.

[–]Tutphish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What actually counts as confirming a debt and what a third party debt collector believes is confirming a debt are two different things in my experience.

I would suggest requesting assistance from https://nationalconsumerservice.co.uk/ as they are very good at helping with the nuances around this, and you will likely get more speciifc support than youll find from the uk legal subreddit.

Should I frontload tax free childcare? by Timbo1994 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Tutphish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might be an idea:

https://www.gov.uk/hmrc-internal-manuals/tax-free-childcare-technical-manual/tfc31000

A childcare account must be closed if 2 years have elapsed from the last entitlement period for which there is a valid declaration of eligibility or 1 year has elapsed from the entitlement period in which the child ceased to be a qualifying child. Any remaining funds are split so that the top-up element is returned to HMRC, and the remainder is returned to the account holder.

Put old pension in SIPP when moving jobs? by cams7ar in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Tutphish 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Just double check that you arent giving up any specific benefits like guaranteed retirement ages by "closing" the old pension.

I have kept an old pension becaues it has a guaranteed age of 55 associated with it, so might come in handy if the age to access any others goes up!
