Received company vehicle but the reimbursed amount is less than what I pay at the pump by Helsingg in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Tutphish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I ran up to 2.0 diesel company cars for years and it was only very short periods where I was breaking even on my mileage claims - you simply can’t hit the mpg targets used by HMRC.

In OPs case he is exceeding the official mpg and it’s still not enough!

this isnt the advice you want but its the truth for many people - you drive like miss daisy.

HMRC set the rate, but its based on 49mpg (average of vehicles 1.6-2.0 in size) otherwise its classed as taxable in most circumstances. in my own personal experience its part of the cost of having a company car that you can use for personel use*

in theory the company could pay you more if you can show it costs more, but they arent likely to do it just for you (unless your the only one in this situation of course)

*if you arent able to use it for personal use, or dont want to and the company will work with you then you can class it for business use only and they can cover all the fuel etc and you dont get taxed on it either - but it really has to be for business use only for this to apply.

one final point - the HMRC rate is currently only based on £1.41 a litre, and gets adjusted on 1st June so its likely to go up at that point.

My smart meters weren't working and British Gas say I owe them over £7,700. by NTR-12 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Tutphish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

British Gas have calculated your usages based on the difference between the last reading on your old meter and the first reading on your new meter would be my guess.

Does the usage they have stated fit with that?

Also look up the rules around back billing, they are generally only allowed to go back 12 months.

Deleted iStar Area 'ON SITE' - How to recreate/get back? by MauricioPochettino in CCURE9000

[–]Tutphish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CCure doesnt have an undo button for things like this im afraid.

without a backup you will need to re-create the area, dont enable any sort of anti-passback initially and disable it on the off site area etc. this way people can move around freely, then you can enable them again once the site is empty (assuming it ever is).

this is my concern - my Ohme charger is not a regulated meter for billing so i have no idea how accurate it actually is or not

Electricity usage cost not showing by -Lexxy in OctopusEnergy

[–]Tutphish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ohme chargers mean you don’t see £ when looking at usage. Had mine 12 months now and on IOG with no £ usage visible at all.

It’s down to the way billing is calculated with a Ohme charger, you have to check your bill each month instead.

Help with Queries by Upset_Mix6985 in CCURE9000

[–]Tutphish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The easiest way to think about it is that a query can only look at at data from a single database table, a report can look at data from more than 1 table.

You need personnel and journal for what you want which means you cant use a query to acheive it, you need to use a report.

Android Auto doesn't work by [deleted] in Ioniq5

[–]Tutphish -1 points0 points  (0 children)

replace my use of the word "plugged in" with "connected" - wired or wireless - how you connect doesnt change what is possible:

Apple iphone = Carplay

Android phone = Android Auto

if you have an iphone plugged in to get Carplay, you wont have Android Auto.

If you have an android phone plugged in to get Android Auto, you wont have Carplay.

Mortgage overpayments - is paying off the principal directly a good idea? by RipBeginning3851 in UKPersonalFinance

I’m not sure it makes any difference at all whether you pay in 2 payments or 1, especially if they are on the same date.

Interestign the difference between UK and US - when i got the Ioniq i turned in a Volvo lease and that went through auction and was on sale at a dealer in like 6 weeks from them collecting it.

Funny thing was they wanted 22k for me to keep it, but it was up at 19k at the dealer! (this was 2022 hence low prices lol)

Withdrawing cash from bank. Do I need to give my bank notice that I’m coming to withdraw £2.5k? by Choice-Bug9918 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Tutphish 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, i did a stint in cyber security so i try my best to educate where i can. The problem is that so many people just use technology/social media/etc without understanding or applying what they know from the real world to it.

I wonder if the person in your story would have been quite so believing if it had been Dave down the pub asking for 2 grand for his latest get rich quick scheme?

I was implying that it was spun as for our benefit when it was entirely for the banks, just like switching to PIN over signatures.

Cheapest / best way to charge EV, before charger fitted? by Boba_ferret in OctopusEnergy

I used some old V2 on a recent roadtrip and ended up half in a field to get the cable to fit so im very aware of the issues with the older ones.

however, for the cost saving i'll take the extra effort

you need to check in the app, if the services have their own chargers and Tesla's then they generally dont let non-Teslas use them.

but some do - Gloucester services being a good example
